Private Residence Caretaker – (Oak Bay)

Residential Caretaker to maintain the care of a private residential property in Oak

Bay. The ideal candidate is service-minded, detail-oriented, and takes genuine pride

in high quality work. This role is suited for someone who values long-term, respectful

relationships and finds satisfaction in doing things properly and thoughtfully.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine property inspections and hands-on maintenance, including light HVAC/electrical/plumbing, windows, gutters, vehicles, boats, and tools.
  • Conduct routine landscape inspections and hands-on gardens and hardscape maintenance (e.g., leaf removal, outdoor furnishings, irrigation).
  • Oversee, coordinate, and/or work alongside property and landscape contractors as needed (e.g., gardeners, plumbers, auto mechanic, house cleaner).
  • Emergency preparedness and response for weather events, power outages, security alarms, etc.
  • Schedule and maintain records for all preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Provide general household support, including minor repairs, pickup and delivery errands, and utility space upkeep/care.
  • Maintain meticulous care of tools and work vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in property management or facility maintenance.
  • Skilled in mechanical systems troubleshooting and light carpentry.
  • Comfortable lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, and performing physical tasks.
  • Available for emergency call-outs and occasional weekend/holiday needs.
  • Driving and trailer hauling.
  • Lives within 30 minutes of Oak Bay.
  • Background check required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification, licensure or expeience in a trade eg electrical, plumbing, HVAC, horticultural.
  • Experience maintaining heritage homes or architecturally detailed properties.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and smart home technology.
  • Automotive and/or boat maintenance experience.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: An annual salary range of $65,000-$80,000. Pay range is dependent on experience. Holiday pay and overtime available.
