Lead the Future of Geospatial Data Collaboration in British Columbia

TallSky Consulting is recruiting on behalf of the Integrated Cadastral Information Society (ICI Society) for an Executive Director. This is a hybrid opportunity with preference for candidates based in Victoria. As the Society's Executive Director, you will be responsible for advancing the Board's strategic direction while ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and continued value for members.

For 25 years, the ICI Society has been British Columbia's trusted leader in geospatial data collaboration, integration, and sharing. Through its innovative GeoShare platform and extensive network of Local Governments, Provincial agencies, Utilities, First Nations, and Associate Members, the Society enables the secure exchange of authoritative geospatial information that supports infrastructure planning, land management, emergency response, and informed decision-making across the province.

Through collaboration and strong partnerships, the Society has become a respected leader in advancing the secure exchange of authoritative land and geospatial information.

Today, the Society is looking ahead.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will lead the not-for-profit organization through its next chapter by strengthening existing relationships, expanding membership, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring the Society remains a trusted and sustainable organization for years to come. Success in this role will come from building trusted relationships, expanding the Society's network, and helping identify new opportunities for collaboration and membership across British Columbia. Working with a dedicated team you will provide both strategic leadership and hands-on executive oversight across governance, operations, finance, and stakeholder engagement.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic, relationship-focused executive who enjoys bringing people together, leading change, and creating long-term value through collaboration.

As Executive Director you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership while working closely with the Board of Directors to shape the Society's future direction.
  • Lead the organization's operations, financial management, governance, and long-term sustainability.
  • Champion the Society's role as British Columbia's trusted leader in geospatial data collaboration while identifying opportunities to strengthen services, expand membership, and create value for members.
  • Foster member engagement while identifying opportunities to expand the Society's membership, strengthen strategic partnerships, and enhance the value delivered to members.
  • Build trusted relationships with First Nations, local governments, provincial agencies, utilities, members, and industry partners across British Columbia.
  • Lead organizational change and continuous improvement while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and positive workplace culture.
  • Represent the Society at meetings, conferences, and events throughout British Columbia, travelling 10%-20% of the time.

This is only a brief overview of the role. Please review the full Job Description at https://tallsky.ca/job/executive-director/ to learn more about this executive leadership opportunity.

Does this describe you?

You are an experienced, collaborative executive who combines strategic vision with practical business leadership. You are energized by building relationships, bringing diverse groups together, and creating opportunities for organizations to grow and evolve.

You also bring:

  • A minimum of five years of progressive senior leadership experience with responsibility for strategy, operations, financial management, and organizational performance.
  • A strong understanding of geospatial information, authoritative data sharing, or land information management, with an appreciation for the role trusted, secure data exchange plays in supporting local governments, utilities, First Nations, and other organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, identifying emerging opportunities, and translating strategic vision into action.
  • Strong business acumen, including experience with budgeting, financial planning, resource allocation, and long-term sustainability.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors, governance committees, or similar oversight structures.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, partners, and community groups.
  • Experience leading and developing teams while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and positive workplace culture.
  • Recent experience working with First Nations in British Columbia is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

A post-secondary degree in business administration, public administration, geography, planning, information management, technology, commerce, or a related discipline would be considered an asset, and equivalent executive leadership experience will also be considered.

Experience within local government, utilities, technology, information management, membership-based organizations, or the not-for-profit sector would be an asset.

Why join the ICI Society?

This is an opportunity to lead a respected provincial organization at an exciting point in its evolution. Building on more than 25 years of success, you'll have the opportunity to help shape its future while strengthening collaboration between governments, utilities, First Nations, and industry across British Columbia through the secure exchange of authoritative geospatial information.

In return, you'll enjoy:

  • Competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum (commensurate with related experience, education, and skills) plus an additional 15% of your base salary in lieu of employer-sponsored benefits.
  • A flexible, hybrid 37.5-hour work week with a preference for candidates based in Victoria.
  • Fifteen days of paid vacation to start, increasing to twenty days after three years of service, and ten paid sick days each year.
  • The opportunity to lead a collaborative, highly engaged team.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on an organization that plays an important role in supporting communities across British Columbia.

If you're excited by the opportunity to lead with purpose, build trusted partnerships, and guide an organization through its next chapter, we look forward to hearing from you.
