Sr Manager, Digital Innovation

What you'll do

This role is accountable for advancing BC Hydro’s AI strategy by delivering AI-enabled solutions that drive measurable
business value and improved outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Digital Innovation, Platforms and Analytics, the role
leads a team of approximately 15 employees and contractors.

The Senior Manager, Digital Innovation provides both technical and strategic leadership to identify, prioritize, and respond
to demand for AI solutions. This includes accelerating the transition of practical use cases from concept to production, as
well as working with service providers to transition AI products into sustainment and continuously identify opportunities to
enhance and optimize those solutions over time.

A key responsibility of the role is to establish and maintain a robust AI governance framework that ensures alignment with
business strategy as well as ensuring that all solutions are secure, reliable, scalable, and cost optimized, and aligned with
enterprise risk and compliance standards. The role is also accountable for building organizational capability by advancing AI
literacy, enabling teams across the business to effectively adopt and leverage AI in their daily work.

Additional responsibilities include driving Microsoft 365 (M365) value realization, maximizing adoption and business
impact from digital tools and platforms. Working in close partnership with business leaders and technology teams, the role
identifies opportunities, shapes digital and AI strategy and adoption, and ensures alignment with organizational priorities.
This is achieved while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Digital Innovation & Strategy
  • Lead the execution and continuous evolution of the digital innovation strategy and roadmap.
  • Identify emerging AI tools and trends that can unlock new business value.
  • Champion a culture of experimentation, rapid prototyping, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and prioritize digital initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with business goals.

Platform Leadership
  • Oversee the M365 platform to maximize business value and enable adoption of new capabilities
  • Ensure platform is secure and aligned with architectural standards.

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead management, professional, and unionized staff to ensure alignment with digital innovation goals and priorities.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand needs and co-create digital solutions.
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate external partners, tools, and technologies.
  • Communicate progress, insights, and recommendations to the
Director of Digital Innovation, Platforms and Analytics and key stakeholders.

Governance & Performance
  • Establish KPIs and success metrics for digital initiatives
  • Track and manage AI costs and realization of expected business benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage budgets, resource planning, and operational processes for the digital innovation portfolio.

What you bring

  • Proven Leadership Experience: 7+ years in technology, digital, or AI leadership roles, with experience implementing digital
innovation initiatives.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of AI, machine learning, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), automation, and
emerging digital technologies.
  • AI Product & Lifecycle Management: Experience managing AI solutions as products, including lifecycle management from
ideation through sustainment, continuous improvement, and value optimization.
  • Data & AI Governance: Understanding of data management, quality, and governance practices to support reliable and
responsible AI deployment.
  • Responsible AI Awareness: Knowledge of ethical AI practices, including fairness, transparency, and responsible use of AI
in regulated environments.
  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: Ability to anticipate trends, assess business value, make data-driven decisions, and balance
short-term results with long-term strategy.
  • Execution & Delivery Focus: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, prioritize initiatives, and deliver
measurable outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, forecasting costs, tracking value realization, and making investment
recommendations for digital initiatives.
  • Relationship & Stakeholder Management: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence business leaders,
technical teams, and external partners.
  • People Leadership & Team Development: Track record of building high-performing, diverse, and inclusive teams. Skilled
in coaching, mentoring, and fostering innovation.
  • Communication & Presence: Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, business-friendly
language.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced
degree (Master’s or MBA) is considered an asset.
  • Change & Innovation Mindset: Adaptable, resilient, and curious, with a passion for continuous learning and staying ahead
in emerging AI and digital trends.
