Full job description

Job Overview
The Partner Assault Response (PAR) program provides a community-based 12-session group program for court mandated intimate partner violence offenders from the criminal courts in Thunder Bay. The program provides a safe space for individuals to explore their beliefs, attitudes and expectations.

Each PAR group is co-facilitated by two facilitators, ideally of different genders to support diverse perspectives. As our current team includes female facilitators, we are currently seeking male-identifying applicants to complement our groups. Groups currently occur on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings although scheduling is subject to change.

Duties

1. Planning and coordinating groups with the PAR Coordinator.

2. Participating in any necessary group preparation, including ensuring equipment andspace are ready and available, and greeting and exiting group participants, whether in-person or virtual.

3. Co-facilitating the group in accordance with the established curriculum.

4. Addressing client-related crises that arise as part of the group process.

5. Encouraging client participation in the evaluation of service by facilitating the

completion of appropriate quality assurance tools and questionnaires.

6. Completing any required recording requirements.

Qualifications

  • A university degree or college diploma in a relevant human services field
  • Knowledge regarding partner abuse and the dynamics of violence/abuse
  • A general understanding of the policies and procedures of police, Crown attorney’s office, courts, probation and parole as they relate to domestic violence
  • Competence in group educational curriculum delivery

Rate of Reimbursement

The rate of reimbursement is $75 per group hour.

The rate is inclusive of any administrative tasks associated with the provision of the group, both before and after each session.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2 – 6 per week
