Position Title: General Manager

Location: Peak Cellars, 2290 Goldie Road, Lake Country, BC

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Position Summary

Peak Cellars is seeking an experienced and inspiring General Manager to lead all aspects of our hospitality, food & beverage, retail, and guest experience operations. Peak Cellars is one of the Okanagan’s premier winery destinations. The General Manager is responsible for delivering a world-class guest experience, leading a high-performing year-round and seasonal team, and driving the commercial performance of the property in close partnership with senior leadership of O’Rourke Family Vineyards.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Guest Experience

  • Provide overall leadership and day-to-day management of the Peak Cellars property, including the Tasting Bar, Garden Bistro, retail wine shop, and event spaces.
  • Champion service standards that consistently exceed guest expectations and reflect the Peak Cellars brand.
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing levels, and operational flow to align with reservations, peak season demand, and special events.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, turning service recoveries into loyalty-building moments.

Food & Beverage Leadership

  • Oversee the Garden Bistro in partnership with the Executive Chef, ensuring quality, consistency, and profitability across lunch, dinner, and seasonal service.
  • Maintain a strong farm-to-table connection with the on-site organic garden and trusted local suppliers.
  • Lead menu, beverage, and pricing reviews; manage food and beverage cost percentages, labour costs, and inventory controls.
  • Ensure full compliance with BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) rules, FoodSafe, and Serving It Right standards.

Sales, Marketing & Wine Club

  • Drive revenue growth across tasting experiences, retail wine sales, the Garden Bistro, the Inner Circle Club, and private events.
  • Champion the growth and retention of the Wine Club, ensuring members feel valued and engaged year-round.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns, events, and partnerships that strengthen brand awareness and visitation.
  • Build relationships with the Scenic Sip Trail, tour operators, hotels, concierges, and tourism partners across the Okanagan.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain a strong year-round and seasonal team across hospitality, F&B, and retail.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, professionalism, and pride in the Peak Cellars brand.
  • Champion workplace health, safety, and inclusion across all departments.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Monitor revenue, cost of goods, labour, and operating expenses; identify opportunities to improve margin without compromising guest experience.
  • Contribute to long-term planning, capital projects, and growth initiatives across the estate.
  • Provide regular performance reporting and clear, well-reasoned recommendations to senior leadership.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure full compliance with BC Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety, WorkSafeBC, LCRB, food safety, and accessibility requirements.
  • Maintain robust opening, closing, cash-handling, and incident-reporting procedures.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response across the property, in line with estate-wide protocols.

QualificationsExperience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in winery, restaurant, resort, or premium hospitality operations, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record managing multi-unit or multi-department operations (tasting room, restaurant, retail, events) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of 30+ across peak operating periods.
  • Strong understanding of BC wine, hospitality, and tourism markets is a significant asset.

Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the presence to host VIP and trade guests.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience owning a P&L, budgets, forecasting, and labour and cost controls.
  • Working knowledge of point-of-sale, reservation, and wine club platforms (e.g., Tock, Commerce7, or equivalent).
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and composure under pressure during peak service.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
  • Serving It Right and FoodSafe certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
  • WSET Level 2 or equivalent wine education preferred; deeper wine knowledge considered a strong asset.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays during peak season.

Work Environment

  • On-site role at the Peak Cellars estate in Lake Country, BC; significant time spent on the floor across the tasting room, bistro, and grounds.
  • Combination of office, indoor hospitality, and outdoor environments, including some exposure to weather during events and outdoor service.
  • Active role that includes walking the property, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Schedule includes weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays during peak season; a more balanced cadence in the off-season.
