NEC is dedicated to the Peoples of these territories and beyond. We are centering our Nations, one learner at a time. In doing this work collectively, we demonstrate that commitment is more than just showing up.
NEC is committed to protecting and upholding the dignity, safety, and identities of our Indigenous learners. We honor traditional values and Indigenous knowledge, fostering learners’ identities, aspirations, and sense of belonging. Our academic programming and wrap-around supports are aligned with the Longhouse Values of the Host Nations.

The VP leads organizational alignment, governance, and institutional performance, ensuring policies, operations, and major initiatives reflect NEC’s mission, Longhouse values, and Indigenous-centered approaches. Through integrated oversight and proactive risk monitoring, the Vice President supports NEC’s sustainability, accountability, and long-term success.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, with a Doctorate preferred for academic or institution-wide strategy portfolios.
Eight (8) to ten (10) years of senior executive leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to lead institution wide strategy, coordination, and organizational effectiveness.
Demonstrated experience in post-secondary education or a comparable complex sector, with proven ability to navigate multi-department environments and executive-level governance.
Strong understanding of Indigenous education, governance, and community engagement, ensuring alignment with NEC’s mission, Longhouse values, and Indigenous-centered approaches.
Experience working in complex, unionized environments, with the ability to support organizational alignment and resolve cross-functional issues.
Proven ability to lead large teams and complex portfolios, ensuring coordinated execution of strategic priorities and institutional initiatives.
Ability to pass a criminal record check as required for roles involving executive oversight and institutional accountability.
Experience working within Indigenous or community-based organizations is considered an asset.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
