Education Coordinator Part-Time

Oxford Learning Thornhill is looking for an has an upbeat, passionate, committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic Part-Time Education Coordinator/Teacher to work with our primary, intermediate, and high school students and their parents. As the Education Coordinator, you will participate in the centre's operations including teaching as needed, administering assessments, programming, and overseeing students' programs, maintaining contact with current parents and meeting with them to discuss their child's progress, as well as reaching out to past families to reengage them with our services, and other administrative duties. You will also be responsible to maintain an environment that ensures the Oxford Learning philosophy is being maintained throughout the centre. In addition, you will be responsible for client intakes and selling services to new clients and up-selling to existing clients. The candidate will also assist with promoting the centre. Candidates must possess a strong passion for seeing students succeed and must be comfortable teaching students when required.

Job details:

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online job. Relocation packages are not available.

Responsibilities (Position Details):

As the Education Coordinator you participate in the centre's operations, including working with multiple people from centre staff to teachers, to parents, and of course, the students! You will work directly with the Centre Director as a key staff member with the following responsibilities:

• help inform inquiring parents about our Oxford Learning programs
• organize schedules for students, staff, and teachers
• set up and administer assessments
• establish and oversee student learning programs
• liaise with members of the community (schools, sports teams, and local businesses)
• maintain contact with parents and meeting with them to discuss their child's progress
• ensure that the Oxford Learning philosophy is being maintained throughout the centre
• create a fun and energetic learning environment on a daily basis
• effectively master the Oxford Learning Teaching philosophy as well as coach other teaching members of the team

The successful candidate must meet, or exceed, the following criteria:

• Personable, friendly, out-going, creative, confident, and energetic
• Exceptional English language written and oral communication skills
• Strong leadership and motivational skills
• Undergraduate or post-secondary qualification, a degree in education, or equivalent experience
• Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or working towards (including equivalent) would be a strong asset
• Excellent organization skills and multitasking abilities
• Have a great sense of humour
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience in a similar environment
• Previous Oxford Learning Centre Experience would be a strong asset.
• Oral and written French is an asset

Experience:

• Work in an educational environment dealing with medium to large student bodies
• Work in a business environment is an asset
• Experience with billing cycles required
• Strong computer skills (MS Office, online communication apps)
• Strong phone skills and experience in customer service (experience in sales is preferred)

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $19 - $21 / hour

Schedule:

• 1-2 afternoons, evenings a week Monday-Thursday until 7:30 pm
• and/or Saturday mornings
