Full job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Elementary School Teacher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and the ability to inspire young minds.

This role involves teaching elementary school students and creating a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Educate students in various subjects including English, Math, and other core curriculum areas.
  • Provide individualized instruction to meet the needs of each student.
  • Manage classroom activities and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Assign and correct homework.
  • Provide tutoring assistance.
  • Supervise teaching assistants and train student teachers.
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials and course content.
  • Evaluate the progress and behavior of students and discuss results with students, school officials and parents.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the educational experience.
  • Identify children's individual learning needs.
  • Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development and their school readiness.
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • Prepare subject material for presentation according to an approved curriculum.
  • Prepare, administer and correct tests
  • Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trips.

Credentials

  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR
  • Certificates, licenses, memberships and courses
  • Membership in a provincial or territorial teachers association or federation.
  • TESL/TELF?TESOL (teaching English as a second language) Certification Provincial or Territorial teaching certificate.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Proficiency in time management to organize lesson plans and classroom activities efficiently
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles
  • Ability to teach English writing skills effectively
  • Familiarity with special education practices is a plus
