Royal Game Cafe & Lounge is looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused team members to join our growing board game cafe in Richmond Hill.

This is a hands-on, team-based position in a unique social environment where food, drinks, hospitality, and board games come together. We are looking for people who enjoy working with customers, take initiative, work well with others, and are comfortable supporting different areas of the cafe depending on business needs.

This is not a single-task position. Team members may work across customer service, serving, kitchen support, cleaning, food preparation, board game assistance, and general cafe operations during the same shift.

Cafe Operating Hours

Our current operating hours are:

• Monday to Thursday: 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM
• Friday: 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM
• Saturday: 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM
• Sunday: 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM

Applicants should be comfortable working evening, late-night, weekend, and closing shifts based on scheduling requirements.

What You Will Do

As a Kitchen Staff / Server / Board Game Cafe Team Member, you will help create a welcoming, fun, and memorable experience for every guest.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service.
• Take customer orders and accurately enter and process them.
• Prepare and serve food, non-alcoholic beverages, and other menu items according to cafe standards.
• Assist with kitchen preparation, food handling, plating, restocking, and dishwashing.
• Learn the cafe's board game collection and become comfortable recommending games based on group size, experience level, interests, and available time.
• Explain basic board game rules and help customers get started with their games.
• Check on guests throughout their visit and assist with food, drinks, games, or other requests.
• Create an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere for new customers, regular guests, groups, and events.
• Clean and reset tables efficiently between customers.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the dining area, kitchen, washrooms, game areas, and other shared spaces.
• Organize board games and help ensure games and components are returned properly and kept in good condition.
• Restock food, beverages, supplies, games, and other operational items as required.
• Support opening and closing duties.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, Smart Serve, workplace safety, and cafe procedures.
• Work closely with other team members during busy periods.
• Identify tasks that need attention and take initiative without always waiting to be asked.
• Assist in other areas of the cafe whenever required to support customers and the team.

Staff members are expected to be flexible and willing to support different areas of the business. Depending on the shift, you may be serving customers, helping in the kitchen, cleaning tables, washing dishes, explaining a board game, organizing games, restocking supplies, or assisting another team member.

We are looking for people who understand that maintaining a great customer experience is everyone's responsibility.

A positive attitude, teamwork, reliability, and willingness to help are extremely important for this role.

What We Are Looking For

• Fluent English communication skills are required.
• Fluency in Chinese or Korean is a strong advantage.
• Food Handler Certificate and Smart Serve certification, or willingness to obtain them quickly.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Friendly, approachable, and comfortable interacting with different types of customers.
• Reliable, punctual, responsible, and team-oriented.
• Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced, and social environment.
• Willing to learn and take on different responsibilities.
• Interest in board games or willingness to learn a variety of games.
• Ability to stay organized and maintain attention to detail during busy periods.
• Comfortable with cleaning, dishwashing, food preparation, and other hands-on cafe duties.
• Previous restaurant, cafe, kitchen, serving, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience is an asset.
