The Schizophrenia Division at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada’s largest academic health sciences centre dedicated to mental health and addiction, is focused on advancing care and outcomes for individuals experiencing schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders through a combination of excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. Research in the Schizophrenia Division is focused on diverse interests, including clinical and functional outcomes, treatment trials, brain imaging, genetics, physical health, digital technologies, and health services research.

The Schizophrenia Division is seeking a casual Scientific Associate. Reporting to the Principal Investigator and working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team including scientists, researchers, research staff and clinicians, the Scientific Associate will work on a number of clinical and translational research projects, including observational and interventional studies, and the application of multi-modal neuroimaging approaches in this clinical population.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will apply advanced quantitative research skills in support of current studies and new grant applications including, but not limited to: research design, data collection and management, and data analysis. The work will also involve collaborations to ensure the effective dissemination of project findings to external stakeholders, including supporting the preparation of research reports, grants, conference presentations, papers for publication, and other knowledge translation activities. The successful candidate will also contribute to mentorship of staff and research trainees as appropriate. Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related field with 1 year of post-doctoral experience in schizophrenia research. Knowledge of cardiometabolic comorbidities and psychopharmacology principles is strongly preferred. The candidate must have a strong background in clinical trial coordination, including clinical trial implementation, participant assessments, and data collection within psychiatric populations. A proven track record of academic writing and oral scientific communication (including peer-reviewed publications, grant writing, and conference presentations) is required. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in neuroimaging analysis, including techniques such as resting state functional connectivity, task-based functional MRI analysis, arterial spin labelling, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy, as well as expertise in quantitative and statistical methodologies. The candidate must have a strong command of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R), and experience in data modelling and interpretation of complex multimodal datasets. The candidate must also have superior organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, the flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and the capacity to make decisions and exercise good judgement. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong supervisory and training skills, with the ability to mentor and guide team members effectively.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $93,822.73 – $117,278.41 per year.
  • Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $93,822.73 – $140,734.09 per year
