About the Role

We are establishing a new enterprise automation capability to improve and optimize business processes across the organization. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will lead the full lifecycle of automation initiatives — from process discovery and solution design to development, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.

You will work across a broad range of automation technologies, combining commercial automation platforms, workflow tools, browser automation frameworks, scripting languages, AI/ML models, and custom-coded solutions to deliver scalable and resilient automations. This role requires excellent English communication skills (spoken and written) and the ability to collaborate with business users, IT teams, and leadership.

Potential Automation Toolsets You May Use

  • RPA / UI Automation: UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate Desktop, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism
  • Workflow Automation & Integration: Microsoft Power Automate (cloud), API orchestration tools, logic automation services
  • Browser Automation & Scripting: Selenium, Playwright, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, C#, or similar
  • AI/ML for Automation: OCR, Intelligent Document Processing, NLP models, classification and extraction
  • Custom Solutions: Microservices, custom scripts, reusable automation libraries

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Discovery & Solution Design

  • Work with SMEs to analyze workflows and identify automation opportunities.
  • Evaluate complexity, exception scenarios, and ROI potential.
  • Choose the appropriate automation strategy (RPA, workflow, API, scripting, AI/ML, hybrid).

2. Automation Development

  • Build robust automations across multiple toolsets.
  • Automate supplier registration portals and other multi-step processes.
  • Integrate with Microsoft 365 and enterprise SaaS systems as needed.
  • Build reusable modules and incorporate AI/ML where valuable.

3. Deployment, Orchestration & Monitoring

  • Deploy automations into dev/test/prod environments.
  • Configure runtime models (attended, unattended, hybrid).
  • Implement monitoring, alerts, logs, and diagnostics.
  • Manage credentials, permissions, and security alignment.

4. DevOps, CI/CD & Governance

  • Use Git for version control and code governance.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines for testing and deployment.
  • Define and enforce engineering and documentation standards.

5. Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Optimize automations for reliability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders in fluent English.
  • Produce documentation and support organizational adoption of automation.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on automation experience across RPA, workflow, scripting, browser automation, and/or API integration.
  • Strong experience with dynamic web automation.
  • Programming/scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, C#, etc.).
  • Experience with API authentication, JSON/XML, and data transformation.
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML for automation.
  • Process improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma).

What We Offer

  • Competitive salaries with comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Wellness amenities including an onsite gym, fitness studio, and comfortable employee lounge
  • Group RRSP plan to help you invest in your future
  • Onsite medical clinic and access to telemedicine
  • Daily shuttle service from two downtown locations, with shuttle service access near a bus station
  • Subsidized employee café serving delicious meals and snacks
