Full job description

Piping Assembly Technician

Pacific Rim Fabrication
Location: Langley / Aldergrove, BC
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $27.00–$34.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM

About the Position

Pacific Rim Fabrication is looking for a skilled Piping Assembly Technician to join our team.

We build custom piping assemblies, valve chambers, and packaged water systems for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects throughout Western Canada.

This isn't a typical production assembly position. We're looking for someone with strong hands-on technical skills who understands piping systems, valves, fittings, and how components fit together to create reliable, leak-free assemblies.

Experience in plumbing, pipefitting, or commercial and industrial piping installation is a strong asset. While this is a shop-based position rather than a traditional plumbing role, many of the same technical skills apply.

The ideal candidate can read and interpret drawings, take accurate measurements, assemble piping components, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, pays attention to detail, and understands the importance of getting things right the first time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom piping systems, valve chambers, and packaged waterworks equipment
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, piping layouts, and P&IDs
  • Measure, fit, align, and install piping, valves, flanges, fittings, and other components
  • Work with threaded, grooved, flanged, and other mechanical piping connections
  • Ensure proper alignment, sealing, and assembly of piping components
  • Perform pressure testing, identify leaks, and troubleshoot assembly issues
  • Assist with pipe cutting, grooving, threading, and general fabrication activities
  • Perform basic quality control checks to ensure assemblies meet project requirements
  • Occasionally assist with site visits and installation support
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Work collaboratively with the team to meet project schedules and deadlines

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in plumbing, pipefitting, piping installation, or related technical assembly work preferred
  • Ability to read drawings, take accurate measurements, and understand how piping systems fit together
  • Familiarity with valves, fittings, flanges, gaskets, and mechanical piping connections
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Good attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically capable of performing shop work and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Valid driver's licence required

Additional experience that would be an asset:

  • Commercial or industrial plumbing
  • Pipefitting or mechanical contracting
  • Municipal waterworks or industrial piping systems
  • Pressure testing and troubleshooting piping assemblies
  • Forklift operation or other shop equipment

Why Join Pacific Rim?

We're not a high-volume production shop. Every project is a little different, and the work requires technical ability, problem-solving, and attention to detail.

We offer:

  • Competitive wages based on experience and qualifications
  • Consistent daytime hours, Monday to Friday
  • Shop-based work with limited travel
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Vision care and life insurance
  • Opportunities to develop skills in piping fabrication, pressure testing, and packaged waterworks systems
  • A growing company working on infrastructure projects throughout Western Canada

If you enjoy working with your hands, understand how piping systems go together, and take pride in building things that fit properly and don't leak, we'd like to hear from you.
