Community Animator

At Sage Seniors Association, a powerful sense of mission influences everything we do. We want every Edmonton senior to live a full and healthy life, to do as much as they can, as well as they can, for as long as they can. To do this well, to strive to be the best we can be at it, we need great people who are eager to join that mission.

The Community Animator will be responsible for increasing social participation and engagement for low-resourced and/or isolated seniors through Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). They will facilitate supporting the health and well-being of seniors by collaborating with other community programs and resources to empower seniors to contribute to their communities by connecting them with resources.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience recruiting and engaging community members; coordinating and facilitating events
  • Post-secondary education and/or lived experience in a well-being related field, such as community development, education, recreation therapy, social work, nursing or occupational therapy
  • Provide Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector
  • Community Development experience
  • Proficient communication and collaboration skills; public presentation skills
  • Vehicle required; valid Class 5 driver’s license and $2 million liability insurance
  • Experience working with older adults and volunteers is an asset
  • Have a clear understanding of inclusive, anti-oppressive practice

This position is a permanent full-time (35 hours/week) career opportunity. The starting salary range is between $47,500 - $52,444 plus 100% Employer paid Health & Dental plan and 5% matched Pension plan. Salary considerations are based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors. Sage offers an outstanding work life balance with 3 weeks of vacation to start, and generous sick leave accruals. Sage also observes 13 statutory holidays in the calendar year. Sage is offering great flexibility with flexible working hours and a hybrid working environment at this time.
