We are a fast-growing trucking and logistics company operating across Canada and the U.S. Our operation includes company drivers, owner-operators, cross-border freight, and multiple revenue streams. We are looking for a sharp, hands-on Controller to take full ownership of our financial operations and help management make smarter, faster decisions.If you like clean books, real accountability, and working in an industry where numbers actually matter daily — this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Own the full accounting cycle (AP, AR, payroll, GL, month-end, year-end)
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and cash-flow forecasts for multiple entities
  • Ensure accurate job costing, lane profitability, and truck-level P&Ls
  • Oversee revenue recognition, accruals, and intercompany transactions

Trucking-Specific Finance

  • Monitor driver pay (company drivers & owner-operators)
  • Track fuel costs, IFTA, tolls, maintenance, and insurance expenses
  • Analyze cost per mile, cost per truck, profit and loss per truck, and fleet profitability
  • Support compliance reporting (IFTA, audits, tax filings)

Cash Flow & Controls

  • Manage AR collections and credit risk
  • Optimize AP terms and payment scheduling
  • Maintain strong internal controls and fraud prevention
  • Work with banks, lenders, and external accountants

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and optimize accounting systems (QuickBooks, TMS, fuel systems, payroll platforms)
  • Improve processes per individual and as a whole, reporting accuracy, and operational visibility
  • Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise accounting staff
  • Work closely with operations, dispatch, safety, and ownership
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in accounting/finance, preferably in trucking, and/or logistics,
  • CPA designation
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks
  • Understanding of trucking economics (fuel, driver pay, maintenance, margins)
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, owner-led environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and confident taking ownership
