Supreme Steel is seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, and delivery of safe, efficient, and code-compliant structural steel systems for a wide range of projects. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop practical, economical, and constructible solutions that support successful project execution from concept through completion.

What You'll Do

Engineering Design & Technical Execution

  • Perform structural analysis and design of structural steel systems and connections.
  • Prepare and review design calculations, connection designs, and technical documentation.
  • Develop and validate structural models using industry-standard analysis software.
  • Create efficient, constructible designs that support fabrication and erection requirements.
  • Produce and review erection schemes, temporary works designs, and installation methodologies.

Project Support & Coordination

  • Provide engineering support throughout estimating, design, fabrication, and construction phases.
  • Collaborate with detailing, fabrication, and project management teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Support design-assist and integrated project delivery initiatives.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review shop and erection drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct independent design checks and peer reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and internal quality procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve design discrepancies and field issues

Construction & Fabrication Support

  • Respond to RFIs and field inquiries.
  • Support fabrication and erection teams with technical guidance.
  • Troubleshoot constructability concerns and improve fabrication efficiency.
  • Conduct site visits as required.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to engineering process improvements and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety in engineering decisions.
  • Stay current with industry developments, technologies, and code updates.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil (Structural specialization) or Structural Engineering
  • P.Eng. designation and eligibility for registration in western Canada an asset
  • Minimum 2 years experience in structural steel design within construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel systems, project and design constraints, and design to best fit the purpose or service intended and address interdisciplinary impacts.
  • Experience working with Canadian and U.S. codes and standards, including:
  • CSA S16, S6, W59, W47.1, AISC, AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable regulations, safety requirements, and industry standards. This includes local engineering procedures and practices as applicable.
  • Experience developing erection schemes and installation procedures.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office software
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software, AutoCad and/or Tekla an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
