Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to oversee Stone manufacturing operations, ensure efficient production processes, and lead a team of production staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily activities, maintaining quality standards, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet organizational goals. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a thorough understanding of production workflows.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities to meet quality and efficiency targets.
- Manage and lead the production team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement production schedules to optimize workflow and resource utilization.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with other departments such as quality assurance, purchasing, sales, installers, project managers, templators and management to ensure seamless operations.
- Maintain accurate production records and report on key performance indicators.
- Responsible for shop maintenance including repairs, preventive maintenance on all machinery and equipment and hand tools.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations across all production areas.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to support continuous operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in stone manufacturing or production management, with a track record of leading successful teams.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards relevant to manufacturing environments.
- Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Daily Operations: Open and close the shop on a daily basis ensuring that all machinery is operating efficiently and ready for production staff to complete their daily tasks. Assist with solving production and installation problems. Organize all containers and deliveries. Sign off on templates and numbers to ensure correct work order specification
Education/Experience:
- 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and production management experience.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
- Must have strong people management, organizational, and planning capabilities, be a competent leader of the job workforce, have the willingness and skills to monitor and control the activities of the job and properly implement the required motivational incentives for the accomplishment of those goals.
- The position requires good communication skills with appropriate command of the English language and the understanding and knowledge of how to deal with people effectively with varied backgrounds. This individual must be a leader and motivator, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at any time bringing integrity, fairness, concern for all persons involved, and good judgment and decision-making to the position.
- Knowledge of technical requirements.
- Knowledge of Templating – measuring orders and analyzing blueprints; fabrication – mapping, cutting, grinding, polishing, finishing (quality/repairs), operating Titan/Fastback.
- Ability to effectively build relationships with employees at various levels in the organization; displaying a calm demeanor and the ability to solve problems (attack the problem, not the person).
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Physical Demands: The position will required the following physical activities on a regular basis; Standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing and handling. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Indoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment. The typical noise level for this job is loud.
