Savoury Chef Catering & Events
Location: Vancouver, BC
Employment Type: Casual / Part-time
Minimum Availability: 3 shifts per month
Work Location: In person

About Savoury Chef

Savoury Chef is a premium catering company known for creating polished, thoughtful, and memorable food experiences for corporate clients, private hosts, weddings, celebrations, and special events. Our work combines restaurant-quality food, warm hospitality, strong logistics, and a high level of care from setup through final service.

We are looking for experienced, dependable Casual Event Bartenders to join our events team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced environments, takes pride in great hospitality, and can provide professional, efficient, and friendly beverage service at a wide variety of events.

Position Overview

The Casual Event Bartender is responsible for providing professional beverage service at Savoury Chef events, including corporate functions, weddings, private celebrations, receptions, and large-scale events.

You will work closely with Event Managers and other front-of-house staff to set up and operate event bars, prepare and serve beverages, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and ensure guests receive attentive and polished service throughout the event.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong bartending skills, professionalism, organization, and the ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and break down event bars according to Savoury Chef standards.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, mixed drinks, wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and specialty drinks.
  • Follow event-specific bar menus, recipes, service instructions, and client requirements.
  • Provide knowledgeable and professional wine and champagne service.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and follow all liquor service regulations.
  • Monitor beverage, ice, glassware, garnish, and supply levels throughout the event and communicate replenishment needs before items run out.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional bar throughout service.
  • Provide friendly, attentive, and efficient guest service.
  • Work closely with Event Managers, servers, culinary teams, and other event staff to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Follow Savoury Chef uniform, service, food safety, and workplace expectations.
  • Assist with event setup and teardown when required.
  • Properly pack, organize, and account for bar equipment and supplies at the end of each event.
  • Communicate shortages, breakage, guest concerns, or other operational issues to the Event Manager.

What We're Looking For

The ideal Event Bartender is confident, personable, organized, and comfortable working in busy event environments. You understand that great bartending is about more than making drinks — it is about creating a welcoming guest experience while maintaining speed, consistency, cleanliness, and professionalism.

You should be comfortable working independently behind a bar while also being a strong team player who can adapt to different venues, event styles, and service expectations.

Qualifications

  • Previous bartending experience required.
  • Catering, event, restaurant, hotel, banquet, or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid Serving It Right certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and standard bar service.
  • Comfortable opening and professionally serving wine and sparkling wine/champagne.
  • Ability to follow cocktail recipes and event-specific beverage menus accurately.
  • Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and guest safety.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Professional, friendly, and confident when interacting with guests and clients.
  • Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and able to remain calm during high-volume service.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with Event Managers and other front-of-house staff.
  • Comfortable with the physical requirements of events, including extended periods of standing, lifting, setup, and teardown.
  • Familiarity with Vancouver and Greater Vancouver event venues is an asset.

Availability

This is a casual, event-based position with shifts scheduled according to event volume.

Candidates must be available for a minimum of three shifts per month. Evening and weekend availability is important, with additional shifts available during busy periods.

Event schedules vary and may include daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Why Join Savoury Chef?

At Savoury Chef, every event matters. Whether we are catering a corporate reception, private dinner, wedding, celebration, or large-scale event, our goal is to deliver food and service that feels thoughtful, professional, and memorable.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced bartender looking for flexible event work, exposure to a wide variety of events and venues, and the opportunity to be part of a consistent, professional, and passionate catering team.
