Civil Engineering Technologist

Location: 2, 4716-91 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6B 2L1

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hrs/ week

About the Role:

CORE is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Technologist with an Environmental background to support environmental compliance, construction supervision, and technical reporting activities across active project sites. This role suits a detail-oriented professional with hands-on field experience in sampling, cost/tender preparation, drawing review, and construction oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost and material estimates, project schedules, and quotes to support tender and proposal submissions
  • Collect and prepare samples of soil, hazardous waste, and recoverable waste materials for laboratory testing
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, and edit/revise drawings as needed to support project requirements
  • Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, and technical investigations of soils and water systems to provide environmental data for projects
  • Supervise lime land-spreading operations to ensure adherence to environmental permits and regulatory standards
  • Supervise and monitor construction projects, including demolition and hazardous materials abatement activities
  • Prepare detailed technical and inspection reports from field data
  • Assist senior team-members with evaluating sampling results against applicable regulatory thresholds

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in environmental sampling techniques (soil, water, waste)
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to register with a Professional Association (APEGA/ASET) as a member or member-in-training is strongly encouraged
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal waste regulations
  • Familiarity with TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) regulations
  • HAZWOPER 40-hr certification will be considered an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • High attention to detail

Education:

  • Completion of a two- or three-year college program in civil engineering technology, environmental technology, or a closely related discipline
  • Courses in Waste Management will be considered an asset

Additional Requirements:

  • Willing to travel to project sites as required
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving abstract
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test
