Intermediate Electrical Engineer

Location: Surrey, BC (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Travel: Travel to project sites required as needed

Reports To: Project Manager

Hycroft is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer who is ready to lead design packages, coach junior staff, and take meaningful ownership of project deliverables. If you have 5–8 years of industrial design experience and want to step further into technical leadership, this is a great place to do it.

About the Role

As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer at Hycroft, you will lead the electrical design effort on small-to-medium projects and contribute to larger ones. You will coordinate with multi-discipline teams, mentor junior engineers and designers, and act as a key technical point of contact for clients and vendors.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Surrey, BC office. You will balance design work, project coordination, and field engagement across mining, oil & gas, and industrial projects.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the preparation of electrical design deliverables — drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
  • Develop scopes of work, design criteria, equipment lists, and load schedules
  • Specify and procure electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control system hardware
  • Coordinate with designers, multi-discipline engineers, contractors, and vendors
  • Review and check work of junior engineers and designers; provide technical mentorship
  • Manage engineering portions of small-to-medium projects, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking
  • Conduct site visits, support construction, and assist with commissioning activities
  • Apply CEC, NFPA, and client standards; ensure work meets Hycroft QA/QC procedures

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility to register with EGBC
  • 5-8 years of industrial electrical design experience (oil & gas, mining, or process plants)
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and hazardous area classification
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Teams)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with low and medium voltage distribution, MCCs, transformers, or standby generation
  • Exposure to PLC/DCS-based control system design
  • Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, or BigTime
  • Prior experience mentoring junior staff or running small project teams

Why Hycroft

  • Competitive compensation aligned with your experience and skills
  • Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Hybrid work model with flexibility to balance home and office
  • Real opportunities for growth, mentorship, and advancement
  • A strong safety culture and a team that genuinely supports each other
  • Variety of project work across oil & gas, mining, and industrial sectors
