LOCATION: YWG

POSITION TYPE: Part-time or Full-time

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Game Technician is a critical operational role responsible for keeping arcade games fully functional, safe, and guest-ready at all times. This position directly impacts revenue, guest satisfaction, and brand reputation by minimizing downtime, preventing mechanical failures, and ensuring games perform optimally during both peak service and events.

The ideal Game Technician is proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused; someone who takes ownership of the arcade floor, anticipates issues before they affect guests, and communicates clearly with management to support smooth daily operations. This role requires strong technical aptitude, sound judgment under pressure, and a hands-on approach to maintenance and troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong working knowledge of computer hardware, software systems, and electromechanical components commonly used in arcade and interactive gaming equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues efficiently, with a focus on root-cause analysis rather than temporary fixes
  • Comfort using basic hand tools and diagnostic equipment to assemble, repair, calibrate, and maintain arcade games and related hardware
  • Ability to follow technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and service manuals, while also applying practical judgment when documentation is limited or unavailable
  • Ability to assess and prioritize technical issues based on guest impact, revenue impact, and operational urgency, particularly during peak service periods
  • Sound decision-making skills under pressure, including determining when equipment should be taken out of service to protect safety or guest experience
  • Strong situational awareness on the arcade floor, with the ability to anticipate issues before they escalate into service disruptions
  • High attention to detail with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment care
  • Ability to identify early warning signs of wear, failure, or safety risk and take corrective action promptly
  • Commitment to maintaining games that are not only functional, but consistently presentable and guest-ready
  • Dependable and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership over assigned equipment and arcade areas
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining aligned with operational priorities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all arcade games and interactive systems are fully operational, calibrated, and guest-ready
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues efficiently
  • Replace damaged or worn parts and perform routine repairs using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Conduct thorough internal and external cleaning of games to prevent malfunctions and maintain presentation standards
  • Assess and prioritize issues based on guest impact, revenue impact, and operational urgency
  • Respond quickly to game failures during peak periods, events, and private bookings
  • Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders to maintain connections with game systems and kiosks
  • Maintain clear and accurate maintenance logs detailing completed work, recurring issues, and unresolved risks
  • Keep technical documentation organized and up to date
  • Communicate proactively with management regarding game performance, trends, and upcoming maintenance needs
  • Maintain a detailed communication log for completed work and any issues encountered
  • On call as required
  • Collaborate with management to arrange and move games as needed to optimize the arcade layout
  • Provide a safe and friendly environment for all patrons
  • Other duties as assigned

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Typical shifts range between 4–8 hours and may extend into late night hours.
  • On-call availability to support urgent operational needs considered an asset

COMPENSATION, PERKS & BENEFITS

  • Hourly wage ranges from $20 to $25, based on experience and qualifications
  • Exclusive industry-leading discounts accessible at all GRETA and Hudsons Canada’s Pub locations, ensuring your perks extend beyond the workplace
