Municipal Engineer

Location: Ottawa Ontario

Salary $95,000-$140,000 (based on experience)

About The Opportunity:


We have partnered with an established Engineering Consulting Firm who is looking to add a Municipal Engineer to their growing team. This is a full-time hybrid opportunity, and will allow the ideal candidate to demonstrate their experience planning and designing municipal infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Create reports, preliminary and detailed designs for municipal infrastructure including multi-lane highways, collector roads, local roads and bike trails.
  • Prepare and review contract specifications, detailed cost estimates, tender documents, request for proposals.
  • Review and approve shop drawings.
  • Provide contract oversight and administration including overseeing, directing, liaising, and negotiating with contractors or consultants.
  • Ensure current design standards are adhered to for design, construction, and operational matters.
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers and technical staff in career development and growth.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and contractors/subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer Designation within Ontario (PEO).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in preliminary and detailed design of municipal projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with, and gaining approvals from regulatory and environmental agencies.
  • Proven experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Word, Excel, and MS Project.
  • Ability to multi-task while working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience completing municipal EA studies for road and water infrastructure projects is an asset.
