Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator and Office Administrator to join our team. This role is vital in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment while providing essential administrative support. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy construction settings and a strong focus on safety training and development. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a safety-first culture while managing office operations efficiently.

Duties

  • Actively participate in the Safety program and use SiteDocs appropriately as required
  • Develop, organize, manage, maintain and administer the Health and Safety Program in collaboration with the Health and Safety Committee
  • Prepare onboarding paperwork and ensure all new hires receive a full orientation
  • Maintain and update employee files as required
  • Identify safety training requirements
  • Assist with health and safety seminars or training
  • Coordinate all the requirements for maintaining COR certification
  • Complete internal COR audits annually
  • Post all health and safety bulletins, posters, rules and applicable legislation
  • Assist Project Supervisors to investigate incidents and to prepare incident reports and summaries
  • Ensure all pertinent reports are submitted as required
  • Create detailed safe work plans which identifies and sequences the activities needed
  • Prepare written descriptions of identified hazards and the corrective actions taken
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Maintain a list of health and safety equipment purchased and manage the Safety Room
  • Monitor and maintain SiteDocs
  • Review vehicle/equipment inspections and maintain a deficiency list and the corrective actions
  • Be familiar with Workers’ Compensation Board regulations and policies and provide support
  • Coordinate the review of health and safety related policies and procedures
  • Maintain current knowledge of health and safety literature, legislation and codes of practice
  • Maintain approved Sub-contractor database
  • Maintain and expand upon professional competence
  • Assist with preparing and submitting estimates
  • Schedule and maintain time lines for sweeping/scrubbing/painting/snow removal
  • Ensure billing is submitted to accounting in a timely and accurate manner

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in heavy construction environments with a focus on safety coordination
  • Strong knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health regulations and safety standards
  • Experience in training & development, particularly related to workplace safety
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Effective communication skills for delivering training sessions and coordinating with team members
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and implementing solutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with SiteDocs is an asset
  • Completion of core courses for the COR Safety program will serve as an asset
  • Certified COR auditor or willing to obtain designation

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
