Location: Fredericton, NB
Position: Child and Family Support Worker
Hours: Flexible – days, evenings, weekends, Full-time and Part-time
Job Description: Monuwehkahal Homes operates homes for children, youth and adults in need of alternative housing solutions. We’re looking for employees who demonstrate: kindness, patience, compassion, professionalism, proactiveness, and caring.
This position provides full medical, dental, and pension benefits after a period of probation – but also the resources and training necessary for the role.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and supervision of the children, youth or adults within the home, based on care plans
- Teach and assist individuals with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking money management, shopping, safety skills and other basic life skills
- Ensure that a supportive environment within the home is always maintained, through actively listening, taking part in their interests, participating in activities, and generally helping them reach their full potential
- Consistently demonstrating compassion, kindness, patience, and professionalism, along with utilizing positive reinforcement to build up each client’s confidence in themselves and their abilities
- Maintain an orderly home through participating in regular cleaning, food preparation, laundry, and other household-related activities as needed
- Facilitate physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities
- Accompany individuals to activities and appointments as required
- Fill out daily logs/paperwork and report to supervisors and team leads
- Support clients in becoming self-sufficient and independent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and/or Education in Social Services, Home Care, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or similar would be an asset
- Preferred minimum of one year of work experience in a similar role with a focus on child or youth care
- Experience completing reporting documentation (i.e., incident reports, intake forms, daily status reports, etc.), preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license and driver’s license abstract (preferred but not mandatory)
