Description
Are you passionate about working with youth? If so, then this amazing opportunity is for you. We are seeking an experienced Child and Youth Care professional to work as a fly-in / fly-out Child and Youth Care Practitioner in Northern Quebec.
Duties
- Apply intervention plans for clients.
- Provide positive reinforcement for client behaviour.
- Organize and coordinate activities for the clients.
- Observe, analyze, and record client behaviours.
- Attend and participate in team meetings.
- Comply with safety and prevention measures.
- Supervise clients inside and outside the centre, including during any outings the clients attend.
- Implementing emergency protocols, crisis interventions and non-violent physical interventions as needed.
- Teach life skills to clients.
Your Qualifications & Skills
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with children and youth within a similar environment.
- Post-secondary education in child and youth care or special care counselling, or a bachelor’s degree in psychoeducation, psychology, criminology, social work, or another relevant degree or diploma.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- English fluency is required, and knowledge of French or Inuktitut would be a strong asset.
- Able to adapt and work well with clients from different cultural backgrounds.
- Sensitive and understanding of the needs of others.
- Mature with a strong positive attitude.
- Able to collaborate well within a team.
- Ability to work independently; a self-starter.
- Resilience, independence, and confidence.
- Working understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Successful candidates are responsible for providing a recent clear criminal reference check, vulnerable sector screening, tuberculosis skin test, up-to-date immunization record, and a clear driver’s abstract.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6-8 weeks
Pay: $42.00 per hour
