Full job description

GPNetworks is a growing local internet provider delivering high-speed solutions to homes, businesses, and rural communities across the Grande Prairie region. We’re looking for a technically skilled, safety-conscious Internet Installer who can take on both tower climbing and fiber optic work, including splicing and testing.

This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving technical problems, and isn’t afraid of heights. If you’ve got the skills (or are eager to learn) and want to be part of something meaningful, this is your opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Tower & Wireless Work:

  • Climb telecommunications towers up to 100 feet to install, align, and maintain wireless internet equipment
  • Install and service customer equipment including antennas, modems, routers, and cabling
  • Conduct signal strength testing and optimize wireless setups
  • Follow strict fall protection and safety protocols

Fiber Optic Work:

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing (both residential and commercial)
  • Use OTDR and light meters to verify performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Assist in pulling, routing, and securing fiber cabling during new builds or repairs
  • Maintain detailed installation and test records

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in internet installation, telecommunications, or network cabling preferred
  • MUST be comfortable climbing and working on towers up to 100 ft (fall protection certification an asset)
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, or eager to learn through training
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and working in varied environments (indoors, outdoors, at heights)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently and safely
  • Certifications such as Fall Protection, WHMIS, First Aid, or Confined Space are a plus

What We Offer:

  • Competitive hourly pay ($25–$45/hr based on experience)
  • Paid overtime and performance bonuses
  • Full health benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • Paid training and certifications (including tower safety and fiber splicing)
  • Supportive team culture with real growth opportunities
  • A role where every day brings variety, challenge, and the satisfaction of real impact
