Full job description

West Point Grey Community Centre is seeking a dynamic, energetic, enthusiastic and responsible individual to work as a Playtime/Birthday Party Leader with children ages 1-12 years old.

Qualifications & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to )

  • Ability to work independently, within a team and as a leader with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, leadership and problem solving skills
  • Experience working with and supervision of children and actively engaging with families
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (responsible for setting up and taking down a bouncy castle)Maintains good communication with parents, children, co-workers and volunteers
  • Managing behavior of children using teaching, encouragement, natural and logical consequence methods
  • Responds to first aid needs and unusual incidents
  • Responsible for the safety, leadership and supervision of children 3-12 years old, volunteers and staff in a variety of activities

Necessary Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Standard/Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification
  • Clearance of a Police Record Check
  • Preference will be given to those who are choosing a career in Recreation, Education or Social Sciences

Terms of Employment

  • Position will be seasonal on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am-5:00pm.
  • $18.00 per hour includes 4% vacation pay
