Overview
As the Art Gallery Manager, you will be the heart of our gallery’s daily operations and public presence. In addition to managing standard gallery operations, this role involves communicating with our diverse and international client base, specifically supporting our growing Mandarin-speaking market. The ideal candidate has a strong background in contemporary art, excellent sales acumen, and exceptional bilingual communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the gallery space, ensuring a welcoming, pristine environment for all international and local visitors
  • Actively engage with collectors and advise clients on acquisitions. Serve as the primary point of contact for Mandarin-speaking clients and collectors, fostering long-term relationships and expanding our market reach
  • Coordinate the logistics of exhibitions, openings, and special events, including art handling, installation layout, and catalog preparation
  • Maintain open communication with represented artists (both local and international), manage inventory, and coordinate consignment agreements
  • Collaborate on digital marketing strategies, newsletters, and social media content (including potential localized marketing channels) to promote exhibitions
  • Manage the gallery’s operational budget, track sales invoices, and coordinate local/international artwork shipping and insurance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, or a related business field
  • 3+ years of experience working in a commercial art gallery, auction house, or museum setting
  • Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is required to effectively communicate with our international clients, artists, and partners
  • Deep understanding of the contemporary art market and current industry trends
  • Proficiency with gallery management software (e.g., Artlogic), CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and storytelling skills; ability to connect authentically with diverse clients and artists

Pay: $6,200.00-$7,500.00 per month
