Full job description
Salary Details: The salary range for this position is CAD $26.42/Hr. - CAD $28.25/Hr. Job Summary:
Within the context of a client and family centered model of care and in accordance with the established vision, values and policies of the organization, works in a team-based environment and performs clerical and receptionist functions in support of the delivery of client care. Places client/family needs above all other concerns. Performs a variety of clerical duties, processes orders, communicates with other departments and hospitals to coordinate client appointments and transportation and arranges client tests and receives results. Greets visitors, answers telephone calls and prioritizes requests. Assembles and maintains client charts, arranges for client admissions and discharges and compiles various statistics. Types and distributes a variety of technical and non-technical reports and other materials utilizing computer systems and software relevant to the job. Maintains an inventory of medical and other various supplies, processes orders as directed, and ensures filing systems are current and kept up-to-date. Qualifications:

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.

Education & Experience
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Medical Office Assistant program plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
- Business writing skills.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 45 w.p.m.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
