Full job description

Vice President, Sales & Business Development — Robotics & AI

R3 Robotics | Montreal, Quebec

About R3 Robotics

R3 Robotics is a Canadian robotics and artificial intelligence company developing advanced automation solutions for the food and agriculture industries.

We build robotic systems and AI-powered software designed to automate labour-intensive operations, helping farms and food producers improve productivity, reduce labour costs, increase consistency, and scale their operations.

We are looking for an experienced, highly entrepreneurial Vice President of Sales & Business Development to lead our commercial expansion and build the sales organization that will take R3 Robotics from successful field deployments to broad market adoption.

The Opportunity

As VP of Sales & Business Development, you will be responsible for selling R3 Robotics' robotic systems and AI software solutions to farms, food producers, and other relevant industrial customers across North America and eventually international markets.

This is a hands-on field leadership role.

We are looking for someone who understands how large Industrial businesses actually operate—someone who can walk onto a production facility, understand the customer's operational challenges, identify the economic opportunity, build relationships with decision-makers, demonstrate the value of automation, negotiate complex deals, and ultimately close multimillion-dollar opportunities.

You will work directly with the founders, engineering team, product team, and customers to shape our commercial strategy and accelerate adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Own and lead R3 Robotics' overall sales strategy and revenue growth.
  • Develop and manage a qualified sales pipeline across North America.
  • Personally lead major enterprise and strategic sales opportunities.
  • Build relationships with farm owners, agricultural operators, food producers, executives, and other key decision-makers.
  • Develop and execute account-based sales strategies for large customers.
  • Lead customer meetings, product demonstrations, site visits, pilots, proposals, negotiations, and contract closings.
  • Develop long-term relationships with strategic customers and partners.

Business Development

  • Identify new markets, customers, applications, and commercial opportunities for R3 Robotics' robotics and AI solutions.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with agricultural companies, food producers, equipment manufacturers, distributors, integrators, and other industry organizations.
  • Develop channel and distribution strategies where appropriate.
  • Build relationships with industry leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Represent R3 Robotics at major agricultural, food processing, automation, robotics, and technology events.

Commercial Strategy

  • Develop pricing, packaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategies for our robotic and software products.
  • Understand customer economics and develop compelling ROI-based business cases.
  • Translate customer problems into commercially viable product opportunities.
  • Work closely with engineering and product teams to communicate market requirements and customer feedback.
  • Develop sales forecasts, revenue targets, pipeline metrics, and commercial KPIs.
  • Establish the sales processes, CRM infrastructure, and reporting systems required to scale the organization.

Team Building

  • Build and eventually lead a high-performing sales and business development organization.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and manage sales professionals as the company scales.
  • Establish a culture focused on accountability, customer value, and closing business.

What We're Looking ForRequired Experience

  • 10+ years of professional experience in sales, business development, commercial leadership, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Significant field experience selling into one or more of the following industries:
  • Agriculture / AgTech
  • Food production or food processing
  • Industrial automation
  • Robotics
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Manufacturing technology
  • AI / industrial software
  • Proven track record of personally closing complex B2B or enterprise deals.
  • Experience selling high-value capital equipment, automation systems, robotics, software, or other technically complex solutions.
  • Experience managing long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of ROI-driven selling and capital expenditure decisions.
  • Existing relationships within the agriculture, food, industrial automation, or related sectors are highly valued.
  • Experience selling across North America is strongly preferred.
  • Experience building and managing sales teams is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

You are not simply a salesperson.

You are a commercial operator and industry expert who understands the customer's business.

You know how to:

  • Find the right customer.
  • Get access to the decision-maker.
  • Understand the operational problem.
  • Quantify the financial impact.
  • Build the business case for automation.
  • Navigate procurement and technical evaluation.
  • Structure pilots and deployments.
  • Negotiate large contracts.
  • Close the deal.
  • Turn one successful deployment into multiple customers.

You are comfortable spending significant time on the road visiting farms, production facilities, customers, partners, and industry events.

You are equally comfortable sitting with an engineer discussing technical requirements and sitting with a CEO discussing a multimillion-dollar automation investment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Agriculture, Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated history of exceeding sales or revenue targets.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, particularly around ROI and business cases.
  • Ability to understand complex robotics, automation, AI, and software technologies and communicate their value to non-technical customers.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-growing technology company.

What You'll Own

The person in this role will ultimately own:

Revenue → Sales Pipeline → Customer Acquisition → Strategic Partnerships → Commercial Expansion

You will have significant influence over R3 Robotics' go-to-market strategy and will play a critical role in taking our technology from successful deployments to large-scale commercial adoption.

This is an opportunity to join a robotics company at a pivotal stage of growth and help build the commercial organization from the ground up.

Compensation

Competitive executive compensation package including:

  • Base salary
  • Performance-based bonus
  • Commission / sales incentive
  • Equity or stock options, depending on experience
  • Travel and business expenses

Compensation will be determined based on experience, industry relationships, and demonstrated sales performance.

Location

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

This is a hybrid/field-based executive position with significant travel throughout North America.

  • Your experience selling robotics, automation, agricultural technology, industrial equipment, software, or similar solutions.
  • The largest and most complex deals you have personally closed.
  • The industries and customers you have sold to.
