ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE
The Vice President, Marketing & Communications is a senior executive leader responsible for developing and executing an integrated marketing, brand, and communications strategy that establishes the Verve brand in the market, and advances the organizational goals, strengthens market position, and supports long-term growth. This role provides strategic oversight of brand stewardship, marketing operations, digital performance, public relations, and stakeholder communications, while building a scalable in-house function that delivers measurable impact across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Establish the Verve brand in the seniors’ living sector and effectively communicate the brand value to owners, stakeholders, prospects and families.
- Develop and lead a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with the organization’s business objectives, growth priorities, and brand aspirations.
- Translate corporate goals into clear marketing plans, investment priorities, and measurable outcomes.
- Own and steward the organization’s brand architecture, including visual identity, brand voice, messaging framework, and brand standards, ensuring consistency across all business units and channels.
- Design and optimize the long-term marketing operating model, including the allocation of responsibilities across corporate, property-level, and external partners.
- Oversee digital and performance marketing initiatives, including website strategy, paid media, search optimization, social media, and analytics, to enhance awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
- Lead public relations, media relations, reputation management, and stakeholder communications, including executive communications and crisis communications as required.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders, including Development and Sales, to support new developments, market expansion, naming strategy, creative asset development, and brand alignment across the portfolio.
- Work collaboratively with regional sales teams to ensure marketing strategies, messaging, and campaigns are aligned with business needs and delivered consistently across the organization.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the marketing and communications function, fostering high performance, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage the department budget, monitor return on investment, and provide regular reporting and strategic insights to executive leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related field; a master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, communications, brand management, or a related executive function.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise-level marketing and communications strategies that support growth and brand differentiation.
- Strong experience in digital marketing, paid media, search optimization, analytics, and marketing technology platforms.
- Proven expertise in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, and reputation management.
- Experience leading organizational change, building teams, and establishing internal capabilities in evolving business environments.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level.

This role works closely with executive leadership, regional sales teams, Development, external partners, and other key stakeholders to ensure the organization’s marketing and communications efforts are aligned, effective, and supportive of business priorities across the portfolio.
Participates in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) Program.
Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
Completes all required mandatory training/education.
Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
Performs other related tasks as delegated by the President.
