About the Role

We're looking for a self-motivated technician to install and support Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems across our fleet vehicles. This role involves low-voltage automotive electrical wiring, roof-mounted antenna installation, and serial device cabling, along with remote troubleshooting support for technicians in the field. You'll spend some time on-site at various locations across Canada and working independently, so comfort working solo and managing your own schedule is key.

Responsibilities

  • Install and wire low-voltage AVL equipment in vehicles (trucks, plows, fleet vehicles, etc.)
  • Mount and cable external roof-mounted antennas
  • Run and terminate serial cabling between onboard devices
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot wiring, connectivity, and hardware issues
  • Provide phone/text-based technical support to other installers or site staff when not on-site
  • Travel to various sites across Canada for installations and service calls
  • Maintain accurate installation records and report on job completion
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, managing your own time and priorities on-site

Requirements

  • Experience with low-voltage automotive electrical wiring
  • Experience installing roof-mounted antennas
  • Familiarity with serial cabling and connections
  • Basic computer skills (software configuration, diagnostics, email/reporting)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Canada (overnight travel required)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot remotely via phone/text
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively without direct supervision
  • Comfortable working in varied environments (shop, field, weather-exposed conditions)

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with AVL, GPS, or fleet tracking systems
  • Experience with tow plow or municipal/utility vehicle equipment
  • Previous mobile installation or field service experience

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
