Full job description

Uniform Works Limited is hiring a Seamstress/Tailor for our new Mississauga location. The ideal candidate for this position is an energetic outgoing individual who able to work individually or as part of a team. To be successful in this role; multitasking and strong attention to detail is essential.

Responsibilities

· Read and accurately identify the customer’s needs per the Work Instruction Document.

· Take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations with ability to solve individual sizing issues

· Perform uniform sewing, alterations and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying name strips, applying striping, and applying patches.

· Operate industrial sewing machine

· Meet production and quality standards

· Apply safety precautions and standard operating procedures

· Prompt and reliable attendance

· Any other duties as assigned by the Sewing Lead

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED equivalent required

· Previous experience in Alterations Preferred in a fast paced enviroment

· Well-versed on industrial Sewing machines Preferred

· Ability to effectively read/receive work instructions in English

· Extremely detail-oriented and quality-focused – you’re not happy with mistakes

· Solid communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

· Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, stretch, twist, and lift, with or without reasonable accommodation

· Good Manual Dexterity

· Highly organized

· Excellent hand-eye coordination

· Strong attention to detail with ability to perform quality work requiring extremely close tolerances

· Perform repetitive functions for long periods of time

· Ability to work under tight deadlines

· Ability and willingness to work overtime as business needs dictate to include flexing schedule throughout the week to come in earlier or stay later as well as working the weekend

· Ability to comply with company attendance policy

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, the ability to sit or stand for the full shift, the ability to execute frequent bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, and squatting when completing production processes, obtaining product or basic maintenance of machines.
