The Community Safety Unit, (CSU), provides innovative safety promotion and security services to its communities. The CSU provides a range of safety services in a social housing setting that supports a community development approach to safety and engages tenants rather than acts as guardians of communities.
The Community Safety Unit is seeking a Court/Parking Administrator to provide clerical, technical and logistical support to CSU Parking & Provincial Offences Programs and other TCHC initiatives requiring support for court and parking processes.
What you’ll do
- Provide assistance to Supervisor, Parking Enforcement and Provincial Offences Programs by initiating Supervisory Reviews to be sent to City of Toronto Parking Tag Operations;
- Respond to requests for Supervisory Reviews sent by City of Toronto Parking Tag Operations and responding in accordance with MLEO Agency procedures and deadlines;
- Provide support in all aspects of court processes and documentation by reviewing all court documents received from the field;
- Create Crown envelopes and ensure all required documentation is enclosed;
- Attend court to swear to information, supply Crown Counsel with documentation, provide evidence, or assist in prosecutorial duties and ensure evidence is available for officers attending court.
- Publish changes in parking policy or other information;
- Maintain records of officers with Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Status and provide re-certification documentation to staff and Toronto Police Services Parking Enforcement Unit;
- Resolve parking enforcement problems / complaints from residents, the public or other agencies;
- Provide support to the Community Safety Unit, by retrieving and summarizing all Special Constable reports, on a daily basis;
- Provide clerical support to the Parking Enforcement Section by data-entering all parking tags issued and compiling prescribed spreadsheets;
- Performing data entry, requisitioning cheques and tracking payments of all towing and other invoices to ensure that tow truck and other suppliers are paid in full;
- Involved in supporting projects requiring data entry and spreadsheet work, from other internal departments;
- Recording and distributing court notifications and supporting documentation for all officers;
What you’ll need
-
Post-secondary education or a certificate in Law Enforcement or equivalent experience
-
Extensive computer knowledge and ability including, demonstrated experience using MS Word, ability to manipulate a wide variety of spreadsheets (e.g. Excel) and computer programs and/or ability to learn TCHC computer programs;
-
Knowledge of parking revenue initiatives, policies surrounding enforcement and documentation;
-
Excellent organizational and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize a heavy workload and meet objectives;
-
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a range of internal and external groups;
-
General knowledge of safety and security techniques, crisis intervention and investigative skills to be able to assess security situations, investigate complaints and undertake audits;
-
Eligible to be a Provincial Offences Officer, Commissioner for Taking Oaths and Municipal Law Enforcement Officer;
-
Understanding of provincial offences and by-law prosecution;
-
Ability to exercise good judgement to investigate complaints within a sensitive working environment;
-
Excellent interpersonal skills;
-
Ability and sensitivity in providing respectful service to a diverse population (age, race, language, gender, sexual orientation, culture and disability). Sensitivity to tenants who experience economic disadvantage; and
-
Ability to operate a vehicle (must possess and maintain at minimum an Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence).
