Major Responsibilities

Estimating & Costing

  • Prepare and maintain residential construction estimates for single-family and attached homes.
  • Complete quantity take-offs and material calculations based on construction documentation and project requirements.
  • Review structural addendums and upgrade information to identify costing impacts and required procurement updates. (custom pricing )
  • Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and pricing analysis activities.
  • Identify discrepancies, pricing variances, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support tendering activities through pricing comparisons, trade coordination, and cost data analysis.
  • Maintain and update pricing databases, catalogue items, and procurement-related records.

Procurement & Purchase Order Coordination

  • Generate and maintain purchase orders for construction materials, structural components, and customer-selected upgrades.
  • Review and adjust purchase orders for completeness and accuracy and resolve discrepancies as required.
  • Update outstanding purchase order pricing following tender completion and supplier pricing revisions.
  • Assist in tracking procurement activities and outstanding purchase orders to support construction schedules.

Operational Support

  • Maintain accurate records, tracking sheets, and procurement documentation within Newstar and related systems.
  • Upload and maintain procurement-related documentation to ensure teams have access to current information.
  • Retrieve and input upgrade selections, exterior colour information, and related operational data into company systems.
  • Generate required parts lists and material allocations for estimating and procurement purposes.
  • Assist in developing process documentation, templates, and workflow improvements to support operational efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Estimating and Procurement department.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Construction, Sales, Design Centre, Procurement, and Accounting teams to ensure alignment of project information and operational requirements.
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to pricing, procurement, purchase orders, and upgrade costing.
  • Support coordination between departments to ensure timely processing of information and materials.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative and coordination duties related to estimating and procurement operations.
  • Support departmental initiatives and special projects as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Statement of Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in estimating, procurement coordination, residential construction, or a related field.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Estimating, Business Administration, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction processes, construction materials, and procurement workflows.
  • Experience completing quantity take-offs, pricing analysis, and purchase order coordination.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Planswift, autocade and Outlook.
  • Experience using Newstar or similar construction/ERP software is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

  • Provide service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time at workstation.
  • Overtime may be required during busy periods.
