Remote — Canada only

Attention Heavy Duty Repair and Automotive Repair shop accountants, bookkeepers, and office managers

Are you the person who keeps the books at a repair shop — with 5+ years of experience handling the invoicing, the payments, the QuickBooks file, and the month-end close — looking to transition into the software industry? Join ShopView and help us build the future of heavy-duty repair shop management software.

This is a fully remote, work-from-home position open to candidates located in Canada only. You must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Benefits

  • Work from home position (Canada only) - Flexible schedule
  • 3 weeks paid vacation
  • 3 paid sick days
  • Company benefit plan, fully paid for by the company
  • Early stage, fast growing tech company
  • Employee equity pool

About ShopView

ShopView builds modern shop management software for independent heavy-duty repair shops. Our platform helps shops reduce chaos, improve visibility, save time, and run more efficient businesses without the bloat of legacy systems.

We are an AI-forward team focused on practical tools that help shop owners, managers, and technicians work smarter.

The Role

We are looking for a Shop Accountant to own the accounting side of ShopView: our QuickBooks integration, our accounting application, and our bookkeeping services for shops.

This is not a job doing the books for one shop. It is a job helping hundreds of shops get their books right on ShopView. You will bring real-world shop accounting expertise to our customers and our product team.

This role requires someone who has spent at least 5 years living in the accounting side of a shop: invoicing customers, applying payments, managing parts and core charges, handling sales tax, reconciling the bank, closing the month, and keeping QuickBooks in sync with the shop management system. You know exactly where the numbers go wrong between the service desk and the books, and you know what a clean setup looks like.

You will run onboarding and setup calls with new shops, configure their QuickBooks integration, migrate their data from legacy systems, support our bookkeeping service clients, and troubleshoot sync issues when something doesn’t balance. You will also work directly with our product team as the voice of the shop accountant, making sure everything we build produces books an accountant can trust.

What matters most is that you are a power user of QuickBooks and shop management systems, have high software navigation velocity, and possess excellent typing and keyboard skills. You can explain accounting to a shop owner without jargon, and you can stay calm and clear when a customer is frustrated because their numbers don’t match.

You don’t need to be a coder, but you must be an expert in real-world shop accounting workflows, and be able to understand what makes an accounting integration reliable and easy to trust.

Software industry experience is not required; however, deep shop accounting and QuickBooks knowledge is mandatory. Experience at an accounting firm serving repair shops, or as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, is considered a strong asset.

What You Will Do

In this work from home position, you will spend your days on calls with customers and working in QuickBooks, our application, and our internal tools. It is critical that you are efficient and fast with digital tools. If you don’t consider yourself a power user of QuickBooks, your shop management system, and other computer programs you use, and don’t consider yourself a ‘fast’ typer, this is not the role for you.

Customer Onboarding & Implementation

  • Lead new shops through QuickBooks integration setup: chart of accounts mapping, items, taxes, and sync validation.
  • Migrate accounting data from legacy shop management systems into ShopView and QuickBooks.
  • Own the “logic” of the books. Ensure data flows correctly from an estimate to a work order to an invoice to QuickBooks.
  • Join demos and scoping calls with prospective shops to review their current accounting setup and plan their switch to ShopView.

Bookkeeping Services & Support

  • Support our bookkeeping service clients: reconciliations, month-end close, and clean financials shop owners can trust.
  • Troubleshoot sync errors, mismatched balances, and integration issues, and work with our engineering team to fix root causes.
  • Train shop owners, office staff, and their outside accountants on how ShopView and QuickBooks work together.
  • Build repeatable setup playbooks so every new shop onboards faster than the last.

Product Development & Quality

  • Be the voice of the shop accountant within our product team. Report where the accounting experience confuses customers and propose how to make it better.
  • Review and test every accounting feature before release to ensure it meets the standard required for a busy heavy-duty shop.

What We Are Looking For

  • Located in Canada and legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • 5+ years of direct experience handling accounting or bookkeeping in a heavy-duty or automotive repair shop (or serving shop clients at an accounting firm).
  • Expert-level mastery of QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop); you are the person others go to for help with the system.
  • Deep understanding of shop accounting: invoicing, payments, parts and inventory, core charges, sales tax, A/R, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Hands-on experience keeping a shop management system and QuickBooks in sync — and fixing it when they aren’t.
  • High software navigation velocity and excellent typing/keyboard skills.
  • Strong follow-through, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay calm, useful, and clear when customers are frustrated or under pressure.
  • Comfortable using support, reporting, customer engagement, or automation tools.
  • Comfortable experimenting with AI tools to work faster and document better (Claude, CGPT, etc…).
  • Startup-ready mindset: adaptable, self-directed, and resourceful.

Nice To Have, But Not Required

  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification
  • CPA, bookkeeping certification, or equivalent
  • Experience at an accounting firm or CAS practice serving trades or repair clients
  • Experience with software implementation, onboarding, or customer support
  • Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth software company
  • Familiarity with Jira, Claude, CGPT, Intercom, Hubspot

Why Join Us?

ShopView is built for the people who keep the world moving: mechanics, shop owners, service teams, and operators who value speed, clarity, and results.

As our Shop Accountant, you will be the voice of the books within our team, making sure every shop on ShopView can trust their numbers.

How to Apply

Please send the following to careers@shopview.com. Note: A video introduction is a MUST. Only complete applications will be reviewed. Applications that do not follow all steps will be ignored.

  • A short introduction email with your CV and/or LinkedIn profile.
  • A screen shot of a typing speed test done with https://monkeytype.com/
  • A brief custom-recorded video (MANDATORY) introducing yourself, explaining your shop accounting experience, the shops or clients you served, your experience with QuickBooks and shop management systems (and which ones), and why you are the best person to own the accounting experience for the next generation of shop software.
