ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Product Sales Manager (PSM) will report directly to the General Manager, while working closely with other leaders at Flyover Vancouver (FOCV) and playing a critical role in the success of the overall operation. The PSM is part of the leadership team and oversees product and service standards related to the ancillary revenue streams - retail, food and beverage (F&B), and souvenir photos. The ability to manage projects, multi-task, and communicate effectively is required to be successful in this position. The PSM will play a key role in implementing strategic growth initiatives and evolving our ancillary department portfolio, as well as expanding the service-driven culture.

The ideal PSM is a proven sales leader who demonstrates the ability to motivate frontline personnel, cultivate an engaging sales-driven mindset across the Guest Experience team, and maintain a sharp focus on achieving or exceeding per-capita revenue targets through SKU assortment and category management. The PSM strives for constant improvement while working closely with the management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions are being properly executed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for monitoring, managing, and achieving growth KPIs for the retail, food & beverage (F&B), and photo sales revenue streams.
  • Develop and recommend pricing, merchandising, and localized menu/selling strategies to optimize commercial square footage, product margins, and showcase layouts.
  • Be strategic by combining knowledge in sales, guest flow optimization, and targeted promotions to maximize ancillary spend per guest.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to develop premium products, bundled experiences, and exclusive offerings that enhance attraction branding and capture secondary revenue.
  • Actively design, implement, and lead training programs for the Guest Experience team that instill a confident, sales-driven culture and proactive upselling mindset.
  • Coach frontline staff on effective suggestive selling, high-value product pairings, and natural guest interactions that shift the mindset from passive service to proactive conversion.
  • Actively manage ancillary budgets, participate in monthly/annual revenue and cost forecasting, and drive cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) efficiencies across retail and F&B.
  • Participate in tracking weekly performance, identifying operational levers to protect margins based on seasonal volume shifts.
  • Develop a clear understanding of point-of-sale systems (currently RTP, transitioning to Ventrata/Retail Pro), foresee and make necessary changes, and work closely with the IT applications team to maintain system health, product codes, and accurate pricing/COGS.
  • Ensure sound business practices by conducting regular, structured audits for retail inventory, F&B stock levels, and expiration rotations.
  • Develop a strategy and cadence for slow moving or deadstock inventory items and implement.
  • In partnership with the leadership team, foster an environment of accountability that motivates team members and promotes high employee engagement.
  • Equip and encourage employees to drive their own development, measure their personal sales successes, and continually strive to improve conversion rates.
  • Develop highly effective frontline sales teams by coaching and supporting employees to improve through performance tracking, active floor feedback, and celebration of sales wins.
  • Ensure stock levels, fresh product availability, and retail/F&B displays are immaculate and structured to drive conversions.
  • Ensure exceptional cleanliness and organization across all ancillary footprints, paying close attention to display detail and instilling a high standard of visual merchandising within the team.
  • Additional special projects and duties assigned by the FOCV management team.

This list describes a lot of what a PSM does, but no job description can anticipate every single issue or project that could come up. Flyover may reduce, add or change tasks from time to time.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least 3 years' experience working in hospitality, restaurants, commercial retail, theaters, theme parks, or resort environments.
  • Demonstrated experience setting sales targets, tracking sales performance, and managing product categories (Retail, F&B, or high-volume photography environments highly preferred).
  • Experience in retail merchandising and creating world-class product displays.
  • Proven track record of designing or delivering sales training, performance incentive metrics, or coaching techniques that build a confident upselling culture.
  • Experience and competency understanding business goals and analyzing ancillary expenses, inventory variance, and category revenue.
  • A relentless passion to deliver impactful and meaningful experiences to guests while organically embedding multi-stream revenue opportunities.
  • Strong organizational, training delivery, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing and overseeing commercial projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team as well as unsupervised.
  • Comfort and experience delivering direct feedback and communication, including providing performance expectations, workplace training, goal setting, conflict management, and progressive discipline.
  • Experience with fundamental finance and accounting principles desired, including working with operating budgets, product purchasing, cost control, and the ability to interpret P&L statements.
  • Knowledge and experience working with high-volume retail/admissions software.
  • Must be proficient in computer use, including MS Office tools.
