Do you love theatre, fashion, sewing, costume design and bringing characters to life?

Camp Manitou is seeking a creative, organized and enthusiastic Theatre Costume Specialist to lead the costume department for our six summer musical theatre productions. This is a unique opportunity to spend your summer in a beautiful outdoor setting while helping hundreds of campers shine on stage.

As our Theatre Costume Specialist, you'll play a major role in transforming scripts into fully realized productions. From designing and organizing costumes to helping young performers feel confident and excited for their performances, your work will be seen and appreciated by our entire camp community.

About Camp Manitou

Camp Manitou is one of Canada's premier overnight camps, serving approximately 450 campers each summer with one of the strongest staff-to-camper ratios in camping. Our staff community is built on respect, inclusion, personal growth and creating exceptional experiences for young people.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the costume department for six camper musical theatre productions
  • Design, source, alter, organize and maintain costumes throughout the summer
  • Collaborate closely with our Theatre Directors and production team
  • Manage and organize the costume studio and inventory
  • Assist campers with costume fittings and performance preparation
  • Help create a positive, encouraging and creative theatre environment

Qualifications

  • Experience with sewing, alterations, costuming, fashion design or theatrical wardrobe
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a larger theatre team
  • Comfortable working with children and teenagers
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to camp life
  • Ability to live on-site for the duration of the contract (June 20 - August 13, 2026)

No formal theatre degree is required. Relevant experience in sewing, fashion, wardrobe, costume design, cosplay, theatre production or related fields is welcome.
