Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Mixer to join our dynamic team at Tradition Fine Foods in Canada. As the Mixer, you are responsible for preparing the mix as per the recipe and loading it into the production Line for baking.

Essential Functions:

  • Verify the availability of all required ingredients, spices and materials prior to production.
  • Confirm the lot numbers and expiry dates of all raw materials before use to ensure traceability and compliance with food safety standards
  • All the information must be registered on the batch sheet or WMS (Warehouse Management System)
  • Prepare doughs and batters for pastry or sweet goods according to standardized recipes and customer specific requirements
  • Accurately measure, scale and mix ingredients following approved production formulas
  • Follow proper ingredient sequencing and mixing procedures to maintain product consistency and quality.
  • Monitor and control mixing times, speeds and stages throughout the batching process
  • Analyze dough consistency, texture and structure to ensure they met product specifications
  • Verify and record temperature ranges of batter/dough as specified on the batch sheet. All information must be registered on batch sheet or WMS
  • Ensure finished batches meet established quality standard before releasing them to production
  • Report any deviations from recipe specifications, temperature ranges, consistency standards or quality criteria to the Lead Hand or Supervisor immediately.
  • Train and mentor new hires on mixing, batching procedures, equipment operation, quality checks, safety standards and anything related to the job.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with GMP
  • All other duties as may be assigned from time to time
  • Must be available to work on rotational shifts and the occasional weekends.

Health and Safety:

  • Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner.
  • Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required.
  • Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your leadhand/supervisor.
  • Report any damages of property and machinery to your leadhand/supervisor.
  • Ensure that you understand how and when to use the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) that is located in your work area.
  • Ensure you comply with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/or laws that govern “workers” responsibilities in the workplace and Comply with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy lifting is required up to 45 lbs.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time
  • May engage in bending, stooping or squatting
  • Must be able to work in tight or enclosed spaces
  • Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience as a mixer (preferably in manufacturing).
  • Good command of English – written and verbal.
  • Able to read and understand measurements, follow directions – verbal & written in English.
  • Is a demonstrated team player and can also work independently.
  • Able to follow GMP and HACCP instructions.
