Full job description

Hi-Beam is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to join our team for projects located in the lower mainland.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills, along with a thorough understanding of provincial Occupational Health & Safety regulations. This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and capable of promoting a strong workplace safety culture through coaching, collaboration, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a safe work environment by monitoring site activities, identifying hazards, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Track safety concerns, incidents and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct worker orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Perform regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and provide guidance on safe tool and equipment operation.
  • Lead emergency response procedures, oversee First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and assist with maintaining accurate safety records and reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety and compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a construction safety role
  • Advanced First Aid certification (OFA Level 3) required
  • Experience working on residential & commercial construction projects with a General Contractor.
  • Valid CSO designation.
  • Additional safety training considered an asset, including WHMIS, Fall Protection, and related certifications.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.

Pay: $30.00-$32.00 per hour
