ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a competent and dedicated Medical Esthetics Technician to join our team as Teaching Assistant for our Medical Esthetics Program at our North York location.

Important Note: This is an in-person/on-campus position.

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the classroom Instructor and in compliance with Anderson College company policies, procedures and regulatory and legal requirements, our Teaching Assistants set up lab procedures and activities and supervise students during clinical/laboratory procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIMARY DUTIES

Primary Duties:

  • Follow detailed protocols, procedures and instruction in the setting up of labs/clinics, following daily lesson plans provided
  • Provide knowledge and guidance as specified by the instructor
  • Assist the Instructor in all practical evaluations
  • Store supplies and equipment as applicable
  • Practice safety, and high standards of environmental and or infection control methods
  • Under the direct supervision of the classroom Instructor, the Teaching Assistant may supervise students in clinical and laboratory procedures.
  • Assist students in lab and clinic providing guidance in learning, using the procedures and guidelines, which are specified by the approved curriculum
  • Classes are scheduled for Mondays to Fridays, morning (9am- 1pm) and/or evening (6pm-10pm)

Administration:

  • Evaluate and resolve student inquiries, issues and problems and ensure appropriate action is taken to the satisfaction of the student, Instructor, company and or regulatory agencies in compliance policies, procedures and legal requirements. If in doubt, the student will be referred to their classroom Instructor.
  • Monitor, evaluate and document student progression and competency attainment; submit related reports as required
  • Participate in faculty meetings, orientation, graduation exercises and other functions as directed
  • Ensure that all educational activity is conducted in a legal and ethical manner
  • Proctor theory examinations when necessary
  • General administrative duties, such as scanning evaluation documents and uploading them to the LMS

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated relevant industry skills and knowledge in the area of instruction, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Interest in innovative pedagogical and multi-modal education approaches to enhance student learning.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including effective presentation and group facilitation abilities.
  • Proven ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • High standards of professionalism, behavior, and a commitment to delivering quality service.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with other instructors and staff members.
  • Sensitivity and responsiveness to the diverse needs, feelings, and capabilities of students, with the ability to provide inclusivity, constructive feedback and ensure equitable treatment for all.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current certification and/or registration in the respective profession
  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Medical Esthetics or related field.
  • Current CPR and First Aid
  • At least six months of experience in the profession
  • High level of proficiency with Office 365 environment, including Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience in at least one learning management system, preferably D2L.
