Job Summary

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of youth? We are seeking an experienced Child and Youth Care professional to join our team as a Fly-In/Fly-Out Child and Youth Care Practitioner in Northern Quebec. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in remote communities, providing direct care to children and youth while fostering positive development and resilience.

Our team of Fly-In/ Fly-Out Child and Youth Care Practitioners work to support children and youth age 6-17 years old in programs ranging from group homes to behavioural rehabilitation centres in four different remote northern Quebec communities. Northern assignments are based on program needs and are typically 6-8 weeks long but can be up to 12 weeks. There is no set rotation or number of northern assignments, but there are often options to return for multiple assignments throughout the year.

Duties:

  • Apply intervention plans for clients and provide positive reinforcement for client behaviour.
  • Observe, analyze, and record client behaviours, while implementing emergency protocol’s, crisis interventions, and non-violent physical interventions as needed.
  • Organize, supervise and coordinate activities inside and outside the centre.
  • Teach life skills to clients and help with daily routines and programming.
  • Comply with safety and prevention measures.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience working with children and youth in residential care or a similar environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Child and Youth care, Degree in Psychology, Social work, or another relevant degree or diploma.
  • Full valid unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Clean Recent Criminal Record Check
  • Negative Two-Step Tuberculosis Test
  • English fluency is required, and knowledge of French or Inuktitut would be an asset.
  • Experience working with children and youth with behavioural challenges required.

Successful candidates must be comfortable travelling to and working in remote and isolated areas. Cell phone service is not readily available, and internet connectivity disruptions can occur.

Pay: $42.00 per hour
