Position Summary

We are looking for a Data Quality Summer Student to join the Data Quality team for a 4 month work term starting in May 2023. This position will be based out of our Toronto location.

The Data Quality Summer Student will be assisting the Data Governance team to ensure a high standard of data quality and increase trust of data for the enterprise.

The Team

The Data Quality team is under the broader Data Governance team. The focus of the Data Quality team is to ensure a high quality of data for the business to increase trust in data as well as enabling more accurate insights.

What You Will be Working On

• Investigate and triage data quality issues for the business by performing data discovery, data health checks, root cause analysis and data rules creation
• Produce insights on current data health and recommend data quality rules to ensure optimal data health
• Provide proactive data quality recommendations to prevent issues from occurring
• Creation of Power BI dashboards to showcase data quality issues and improvements over time
• Documentation and translation of business rules to develop technical code using SQL or Python to produce insights
• Creation of self-serving data quality tools
• Implementing Data Governance standards
• Other duties as required

What You Need to be Successful

• Currently pursuing an Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
• Proficient at writing queries and validating results using SQL and Python
• Experience with data visualizations tools such as PowerBI and Tableau is preferred
• Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Google Cloud, Azure, Amazon Web Services preferred
• Systematic approach to problem solving
• Strong multi-tasking and organization skills
• Strong communication skills to all levels of the organization
• Strong project management skills
