JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Teacher who is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction while fostering academic excellence, student well-being, character development, and lifelong learning in accordance with the British Columbia curriculum and the mission, vision, and values of Gobind Sarvar School. In this role, you will create engaging lesson plans, promote a positive classroom environment, and support students’ academic and personal growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum Planning & Instruction:

  • Plan annual, unit, weekly and daily instructional programs.
  • Student Assessment & Achievement
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments.
  • Monitor student achievement and growth.
  • Provide timely feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate assessment records.
  • Prepare report cards.
  • Participate in Student Support Team meetings.
  • Develop intervention plans where required.
  • Support Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Classroom Management

  • Create a respectful, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Establish behavioural expectations.
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times.
  • Promote student wellbeing and emotional safety.

Faith Integration

  • Demonstrate and model the values of honesty, humility, compassion, respect and selfless service (Seva).
  • Participate in assemblies, Gurpurab celebrations and school-wide faith initiatives.
  • Support character education through everyday teaching practices.
  • Respect students' diverse backgrounds while upholding the School's mission.

Parent & Community Engagement

  • Maintain professional communication with parents.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.

REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Valid Certification of Qualification (Should have an Active-COQ)
  • 1 year of work experience as a Homeroom Teacher in the BC Education system
  • Excellent English Communication Skills required (Verbal & Written)

Preferred:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and computer literacy skills necessary for lesson planning and record keeping
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with disabilities or special education needs is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and time management skills to support student success effectively
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for tutoring across multiple subjects including Math, English, Foreign Languages, and more

Pay: Up to $62,000.00 per year
