Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Student Optician and embark on an exciting journey into the world of eye care and optical retail! In this paid internship role, you will gain hands-on experience assisting licensed opticians and optical professionals while developing essential skills in patient service, eyewear fitting, and optical technology. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to build a foundation in the optical industry, learn about medical terminology related to eye health, and explore potential career pathways in retail management and healthcare. Duties

  • Support licensed opticians by preparing eyewear orders, adjusting frames, and assisting with fittings to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Learn and apply basic medical terminology related to eye health, vision correction, and optical procedures.
  • Manage retail sales by engaging with customers, explaining product features, and promoting eyewear options that meet their needs.
  • Maintain an organized laboratory workspace by cleaning lenses, assembling frames, and handling optical equipment with care.
  • Support inventory management by tracking stock levels of lenses, frames, and accessories to ensure availability.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of basic medical terminology related to vision care and eye health.
  • Laboratory experience or familiarity with optical equipment is highly desirable.
  • Previous retail sales or customer service experience to effectively engage with diverse clients.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining products and procedures clearly.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in optical retail management or healthcare fields.
