We are seeking an Application Specialist to join the team in any of our offices.
The Application Specialist is responsible for the support, maintenance and optimization of the Firm’s business applications. Reporting to the Manager, Application and Development, this role ensures that enterprise applications operate effectively, meet user needs and support the Firm’s legal and business operations.
The position exists to provide functional and technical expertise in the configuration, support and continuous improvement of applications across the Firm. The Application Specialist works closely with developers, infrastructure teams, vendors and business stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements and ensure reliable system performance. This role contributes to maintaining a stable and efficient application environment by supporting day-to-day operations, assisting with system upgrades and participating in application-related projects. The Application Specialist plays a key role in enabling users to effectively utilize technology solutions that support productivity, collaboration and service delivery.

Application Support & Maintenance
- Provide day-to-day support for Aderant financial and practice management applications.
- Administer and maintain IntApp applications, including intake, IIS, risk management, and workflow solutions.
- Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement solutions.
- Manage application upgrades, patches, testing, and deployments.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain integrations using Boomi integration platform.
- Design and support data synchronization processes between legal and business systems.
- Create, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and reports.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across integrated platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend technology solutions.
- Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Document system configurations, workflows, procedures, and technical specifications.
- Participate in application enhancement and implementation projects.
- Develop and maintain operational, financial, and management reports.
- Create SQL-based reporting solutions to support business decision-making.
- Assist users with ad hoc data requests and reporting requirements.
- Maintain user access, permissions, and security configurations.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards.
- Support audit and risk management initiatives related to legal applications.
- Provide training and guidance to end users.
- Create user documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex application issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience supporting legal or professional services applications.
- 5+ years of experience in overall IT application management.
- Hands on experience with: Aderant Expert/Sierra; IntApp (Conflicts, Intake, Terms, Open, Walls, or related modules); Boomi AtomSphere; Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong knowledge of database design, SQL queries, stored procedures, and data analysis.
- Experience with application integrations and API-based solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a law firm or legal services environment.
- Knowledge of legal finance, billing, conflicts management, and matter intake processes.
- Familiarity with Azure, Microsoft 365, Power BI, or cloud-based platforms.
- Experience with ITIL processes and change management practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
