Junior Surveyor – Full-Time

We deliver exceptional, high-quality services to municipalities, land developers, and commercial clients, specializing in earthmoving, underground utilities, paving, curbs/sidewalks/driveways, parking lots, and road/site infrastructure. Current Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Junior Surveyor to join our advanced, highly technical Geomatics Department on a full-time basis. In this hands-on role, you will support the team in delivering precise construction layout, topographic surveys, and field data collection for civil engineering and site development projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a technical background to grow their skills in a fast-paced, real-world construction environment under the guidance of experienced team members. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing accurate construction staking/layout based on legal surveys, civil engineering plans, and design drawings
  • Support field topographic surveys, as-built checks, and site data collection
  • Operate survey equipment (total stations, GPS, levels, data collectors) under supervision
  • Help maintain detailed field notes, perform basic data reduction, and verify measurements for accuracy
  • Collaborate with crew members, project managers, engineers, and field staff
  • Contribute to quality control by checking layouts and ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Prioritize safety, follow company protocols, and maintain focus in a dynamic outdoor work setting

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education as a Civil Engineering Technician or Technologist (college graduate required)
  • Basic surveying experience (internship, co-op, or 1 year preferred; entry-level candidates with strong fundamentals considered)
  • Solid understanding of mathematical principles (trigonometry, geometry, survey calculations)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, focus, and ability to work without distractions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract (or equivalent safe driving record)

Assets / Nice-to-Have

  • Previous exposure to construction staking for utilities, grading, paving, curbs, or site infrastructure
  • Familiarity with survey software, GPS systems, data collectors, or CAD tools
  • Experience with Leica, Trimble, or Topcon survey equipment considered a strong asset
  • Experience in surface modeling (e.g., creating/editing terrain surfaces in Civil 3D, TBC, or similar software) considered an asset
  • Experience with drone/UAV surveying or aerial data collection considered an asset
  • Team-oriented attitude with willingness to learn from senior crew members
  • Interest in advancing toward leadership roles (e.g., Party Chief) with experience
