Full job description

Canadian Jerky Company is a professional pet food manufacturer based in South Surrey, British Columbia. Founded in 2016, our mission is to provide premium quality, naturally nutritious, healthy and tasty pet food and pet treats that are 100% sourced and made in Canada.

We are proud to offer three main product lines that include soft treats, one-ingredient jerky and air-dried foods. Our daily production capacity can go up to 20 tons. At Canadian Jerky, we source only the highest quality and freshest ingredients to use in our pet food and pet treats.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive QA Coordinator to support and maintain our food safety and quality management systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with BRCGS Food Safety standards, CFIA/USDA export requirements, customer-specific standards, and internal quality policies while driving continuous improvement across the production process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the company's established BRC Food Safety Management System, CFIA/USDA export certification requirements, and customer-specific food safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and verify the implementation of company SOPs, policies, and food safety procedures to ensure effective execution and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Investigate quality issues throughout production, prepare investigation reports, communicate findings to management, and work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist the QC team with incoming raw material inspections, in-process quality monitoring, finished product inspection, and product release.
  • Assist the QA Manager in monitoring and updating food safety regulations and regulatory requirements.
  • Independently prepare and process export-related documentation and regulatory applications.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to establish quality standards for new products, identify potential food safety and quality risks, and implement preventive controls.
  • Coordinate third-party laboratory testing for products and follow up on test results.
  • Maintain food safety and quality documentation, records, equipment, and related supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the QA Manager.

Working hours will be: Monday to Friday from 9 AM until 5 PM

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of QA experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • GFSI certification or PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification is considered an asset.
  • HACCP training or certification is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to independently prepare investigation reports, CAPA documentation, SOPs, and company policies.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
  • Mandarin is considered an asset.
