Job Title: Housing Support Caseworker

Status: Full-Time

Program: TogetherHER House

Location: Mississauga, ON

Hourly Rate: $25.21 - $26.75

Hours: 40 Hours weekly

Closing Date: Open Until Filled

Schedule: Rotating Shifts

EFry Hope and Help provides trauma-informed, inclusive and gender-responsive programs and services to support women and girls at risk or involved in the legal system in building stable lives.

We are recruiting a full-time Housing Support Caseworker for TogetherHER House, aresidential program providing support for longer term housing to women and girls who have been trafficked and/or sexually exploited. It provides an accessible barrier free space that support survivors to lead their own recovery through individualized goal setting, skill development and safety planning.

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Housing Support Caseworker must be available to work on a rotating shift including overnight shifts. The successful incumbent will assist in developing the program and support in enhancing and rehabilitating the quality of life for clients by ensuring that their physical, social, educational, medical, etc. needs are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides primary counselling, resource referrals, crisis intervention, conflict resolution and support to all residents.

2. Participates in the shift schedule rotation as part of our 24-hour staffing model, as well as an on-call rotation.

3. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and statistics regarding all aspects of service delivery.

4. Acquaints with each resident’s individual Plan of Care, identify needs, recommend changes in individual program plans, and aid that is consistent with the plan for each individual.

5. Provides statistical and evaluative information to management levels when required.

6. Participates in the Case Management Team of TogetherHER House; Primary Counsellor(s), Manager of TogetherHER House, and other Community Supports.

7. Provides primary supervision, develop Plans of Care and provide referrals to community agencies to assigned case load.

8. Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development.

9. Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree and/or diploma in a related human/social service field or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required for this position.
  • Understanding of the complex challenges experienced by homeless women in obtaining housing, employment, educational and community opportunities. Thorough knowledge of agencies, resources, and supports to address identified challenges.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations including those who have experienced homelessness, violence and isolation, and with complex mental health needs and substance use disorders.
  • Proficient knowledge of Housing First Principles, Residential Tenancies Act, and the Landlord Tenant Board. Knowledge of government financial assistance programs.

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Check).
  • Standard First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test in compliance with the TB Control Program.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Doctors note of fitness to perform the duties of the job.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record (Preferred).
