Athletics Coordinator needed for High School

Starting September 1, 2026. Enhance high school students' physical fitness and organize athletic events. This position invites an energetic candidate to coordinate all aspects of the Khalsa Secondary School athletics programs.

Athletic Program Coordinator

(September 1st, 2026 - May 31st, 2027)

  • Hours are 3:30pm - 7pm in September, October, March and April, May
  • Hours are 3:30pm - 9:30pm November, December January and February

Extracurricular Involvement:

  • Coach an extracurricular sports team (1 per season: Fall, Winter, Spring))
  • Organize and facilitate school-wide fitness events, tournaments, and activities.
  • Serve as a role model, promoting discipline, responsibility, and perseverance.
  • Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among students.

What Does an Athletic Coordinator Do ?

As an athletic coordinator your responsibilities include;

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the school's athletic programs, including scheduling, athletic rosters, bus booking, officials booking, and compliance with BC School Sports regulations.
  • Support and mentor coaches while fostering a positive sports environment for student-athletes.
  • Promote student participation in athletics and encourage a culture of excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Uniform tracking, handing out and collection of uniforms by season (Office staff will take care of athletic fee collection/tracking and also Uniform deposits). We use a spreadsheet to communicate this through team rosters.
  • Tracking student interest in a sport in first week of school for all athletic teams
  • School and team registration and fees for SSSAA, BC School Sports, SFAA in the beginning of September
  • Scheduling and overseeing seasonal sports (email parents, coaches, and student athletes any upcoming games/practices). We have a weekly announcement email that goes out on Sundays. We ask that any updates for the next week be emailed by Friday at noon the week before)
  • Coordinate logistics for home games and away games (bus transportation spreadsheet sent out. Games in Surrey, with a 3:30pm or 5pm start will have a bus drop off but parents are to pick up student athletes from the game venue afterwards).
  • Manage eligibility, team rosters, and events
  • Promote athletic accomplishments via social media
  • Oversee athletic support programs for student-athletes
  • Represent Khalsa Secondary School at Athletic Director meetings and events for SSSAA (3 meetings a year. Usually from 3:30pm - 6pm ish)
  • Support student-athletes in balancing academics and extracurricular commitments.
  • Safety & Equipment Management
  • Ensure all equipment is safely locked up upon departure from the school
  • Communicate effectively with parents about student progress, athletic programs, and upcoming events.
  • Foster strong relationships with local organizations and sports leagues.
  • Directing athletic programs and activities.
  • Implement new programs while continuously researching policy changes

What Are Qualifications to Work as an Athletic Coordinator?

  • You should understand athletic programming, the principles of supervising and training staff, and recreation risk management.
  • It is crucial to maintain updated knowledge of all relevant laws and BC School Sports compliance rules.
  • You should have some financial skills to manage a budget, be comfortable working on a computer, conducting research, and identifying and solving problems using your compiled data.
  • You must be able to create and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and parents
  • Have excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Be organized to keep accurate records.
  • You are expected to pass a criminal background check and have strong references.
