Shoppe Associate - Part-time

The Arbutus Club has been a landmark in Vancouver since 1964. Today, we are a modern recreation complex with first class food and beverage services. Our vast range of facilities and programs, coupled with unparalleled service, have earned us a reputation as one of Canada’s finest premier Private Clubs. Our motto is ‘Putting Families First.’

We are looking for a Seasonal Part-time Shoppe Associate with flexible availability to work a minimum of three (3) days per week, including one (1) weekend day (Saturday availability is required at least once a month) up to 12 -24 hours per week. This will be a seasonal role from September 2026 - January 2027 during the upcoming holiday period. Candidates must be available to work for the full duration of the season.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greeting members with the highest level of customer service and building relationships with members and staff
  • Communicating with other Staff and Management (i.e. low inventory, special orders, member feedback or inquiries)
  • Understanding and maintaining the knowledge of current products and services, as well as industry trends
  • Willing to learn how to string tennis racquets and assist members and guests with their purchases using the POS system
  • Assisting with inventory count and organizing storage spaces
  • Maintaining the displays and keeping the Shoppe looking tidy and organized
  • Additional tasks and projects as requested by Management

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must have experience in retail & point of sale (POS) systems
  • MUST be willing and able to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Outgoing and customer-centric personality, able to build strong relationships with members
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Previous retail, customer service or hospitality experience is required
  • Previous experience in the private club industry considered an asset
  • Must be able to go up and down a ladder
  • Sports or Tennis background an asset
  • ‘Serving It Right’ Certification is required (can be obtained upon hiring)
