WHAT IT TAKES
To be Successful in this Role You Will Need:
  • Second year Biology courses
  • Students who have completed microbiology are preferred.
Domestic students must meet ONE of the following criteria, to be eligible to work as a Student Assistant/Student Research Assistant:
1. The domestic student must be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College throughout the work term; OR
2. The domestic student must have been enrolled in, and maintained, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College in the term immediately preceding the work term and has indicated an intention to enroll at the college in the term immediately following the work term; OR
3. The domestic student must be enrolled in, and maintain a minimum of two or more (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in British Columbia throughout the work term.

International students must meet ONE of the following criteria, to be eligible to work as a Student Assistant/Student Research Assistant in the Fall and Winter terms:
1. The international student must be enrolled in, and maintain a minimum of 9 credits at Douglas College, throughout the work term; OR
2. An international student, who is not a Douglas College student, but is an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C., has a valid Study Permit and an existing Off-Campus Work Permit, he/she is eligible to work at Douglas College. Proof of enrollment in full-time studies from the other post-secondary institution is required.
International students must meet ONE of the following criteria, to be eligible to work as a Student Assistant/Student Research Assistant in the Summer term:
1. The international student must be enrolled in, and maintain a minimum of 9 credits at Douglas College, throughout the Summer term; OR
2. The international student must be enrolled in, and maintain a minimum of 3 credits in the Summer term, AND must have been enrolled in at least 9 credits for each of the preceding Fall and Winter terms; OR
3. The international student, if he/she is a new student to Douglas College as of the Winter term, must have been enrolled in full-time studies (a minimum of 9 credits for the Winter term) AND must be enrolled in, and maintain a minimum of 3 credits in the Summer term; OR
4. An international student, who is not a Douglas College student, but is an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C., is eligible to work at Douglas College only if he/she has a valid Study Permit.
An original copy of a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and an original Study Permit and/or Off-Campus Work Permit are required by law before commencing work at Douglas College.
Qualified Douglas College students meeting the above criteria will be given first preference over students of other qualifying institutions.

Additional Information
Hours of work: up to a maximum of 4 hours/week.
The work terms for this position are:
1. Summer 2025: May 5, 2025 – August 18, 2025
2. Fall 2025: September 2, 2025 – December 15, 2025
