Job Description:
Department Overview
Canadian Privacy is part of the Global Compliance department and has a mandate for promoting a culture of privacy compliance and oversees TD’s privacy practices and initiatives regarding customer and employee information. The Canadian Privacy Office has oversight of privacy risk in Canada. It provides specialized advice and counsel to Risk Owners (businesses and corporate functions), reports and escalates privacy issues of key importance within TD, provides training and liaises with and reports to key regulators. As a centre of excellence, and second line of defence Oversight Function, Canadian Privacy along with other risk and oversight partners provide objective guidance, independent challenge and risk-based oversight of TD's compliance with Canadian privacy laws, rules and regulations globally.
Job Description
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Canadian Privacy Office and supports various activities within the Canadian Privacy Office with particular emphasis on relationship management, supporting Canadian Privacy's Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities and special projects.
Key accountabilities include:

Provides advice, guidance and support to Risk Owners (businesses and corporate functions) to drive regulatory/compliance requirements and assists in implementing compliance initiatives to help manage regulatory risk
-
Supports all activities related to Canadian Privacy's Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities as an Oversight Function
-
Identifies issues and supports the management of privacy controls
-
Supports TD's data strategy and strategic data initiatives that deliver new tools, capabilities and platforms and the D&A users performing data usage activities (e.g., analytics, engineering, AI, etc.)
-
Supports the implementation of the Canadian Privacy Office strategy and program
-
Monitors trends in the industry and works with business partners to provide advice and counsel on changes in legislation
-
Supports privacy-related risk assessments, metrics and reporting mechanisms to assess the health of the privacy program
-
Supports updates to privacy-related policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
-
Supports the development of business area specific privacy procedures, guidelines and business requirements
-
Supports the development of role-based privacy training (e.g., Privacy Designate training) as needed
-
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and be an ambassador for TD's privacy program across the organization
-
Assess/identify key issues/risks and escalate to appropriate levels, where required
-
Participate fully as a member of the Privacy team through collaboration, sharing of privacy knowledge and expertise and identify ways to innovate our processes.

Other Qualifications/Skills/ Experience:

Ability to understand and interpret complex laws and regulations (knowledge of relevant Canadian privacy legislation is required and knowledge of international privacy legislation would be a definite asset)

Ability to understand law and regulation as it applies to the financial services sector
-
Ability to independently manage timelines and deliverables, and provide subject matter expertise to business partners and projects
-
Keen interest in advancing knowledge around data governance
-
Awareness of data platforms (e.g., Azure cloud), AI and other machine learning technologies
-
Exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced/evolving environment
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to interact at all levels of the organization and tailor communications to the intended audience
-
Experience developing governance documentation (i.e., policies, frameworks, processes, guidelines), reporting, and presentations
-
Experience managing enterprise initiatives/projects
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
Demonstrate strong:

Ability to work independently, think critically and make decisions;

Collaboration with a variety of stakeholders to influence, build consensus and effect creative and responsive solutions;

Education and Accreditation

Undergraduate degree (or equivalent)

3+ years relevant experience in a Legal, Compliance and/or Risk Management function
-
Previous privacy experience, including a designation with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), would be considered an asset
