Full job description

The role:

Reporting to the Center Supervisor, the staff will portion/prep and deliver all snacks and lunches for the children and maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen. They will relieve staff for lunches and breaks and assist in the classroom as required. The staff will also support the learning objectives of children and assist in creating and managing a variety of learning environments and activities that will provide opportunities for children to develop to their fullest potential.

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Following Set menu, portioning/prepping meals accordingly
  • Delivering lunches and snacks to classrooms
  • Following allergies and dietary restrictions for individual children
  • Cleaning and sanitizing dishes
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
  • Weekly grocery shopping for the center snacks
  • Cleaning duties, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and laundry (center cleaning)
  • Lunch and classroom coverage as needed
  • Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating environment for children
  • Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • Must have a valid and current Food Handler Certificate
  • Knowledge and experience prepping nutritious meals (Follows Food Guide) and snacks and pays close attention to allergies
  • Within 6 months - Valid Vulnerable Sector Check - Criminal Reference Check
  • Health Check - Immunizations up-to-date, within 6 months 2-step Tb Skin Test
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate including Infant and child CPR
  • Professional experience in dealing with young children
  • Demonstrated understanding of and love for young children and enthusiasm for helping to maintain a happy, creative atmosphere in the classroom

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
